and wins the Rose Bowl (or by chance goes to the 4-team playoff), whose No. 16 deserves to be retired - Minshew or Leaf? And, yes, this is getting WAAYYY ahead of ourselves.
I'm not big on retiring numbers.
I would not retire Leaf's number. Even though he broke the Rose Bowl drought, he really only had one great season. Minshew, by virtue of being a grad transfer, will only give us one season. Tough to give them a permanent honor like retiring a number based on a single season. If Minshew was here 3-4 years, threw for 5,000 yards and 40 TDs every year, won 30-40 games and had us in the top 10 every year....then it's certainly worth considering.
Where I'll make the caveat - if we somehow squeak into the CFP, and then somehow get into the title game, and then somehow actually brought a title back to Pullman...I'd be much more willing to entertain retiring Minshew's number, renaming the stadium after him, and painting giant moustaches in the end zones.
