Color me impressed with Smith's recruiting prowess, rentention ability, in fixing, preventing a disaster.

I thought at first that with 3 to 6 players leaving at first, and 2,3,4 decommits at first, equaling about 8,9,10 scholarships to fill at first, that it was a mess, disaster, that would take 4,5,6 years to fix, and that at best Smith would get 1,2 players to stay, and 1,2 decommits to recommit, and that there would be at least 6,7,8 scholarships to replace, filled with 1 to 4 quality replacements, at best.

But Smith has far surpassed that

Only 5,6,7 Scholarships to fill. Convinced Henson to recommit, convinced players to stay.

Recruited James, Isaac Bonton, Rapp, Henson.

Now just need to either get Nigel John back or recruit a 6 ft 9+ in to 6 ft 11 in+ 5,4 athletic, etc, 229+ to 259+ pound Center/Forward

That happens, and Smith could get program turned around, post season, CBI, etc, by end of year 2.

Amazing, Awesome job by Smith so far

Also, and if Smith gets a great true point guard, in addition to getting a great 5/4 Center/Forward for James, Bonton, Rapp, Henson, Great 5/4 Center/Forward, Great True PG, Smith will have program turned around, .500 season, CBI, etc, by end of Year 1.

Also 6 ft. 3 in. 1/2, PG/SG/combo guard, JC transfer, Isaac Bonton looks like a combination of Terrence Lewis, Seltzer, Neil Derek.

I expect, think he will get about 11 to 18 ppg, 4 rebounds per game, 4,5,6 assist per game, 2 steals per game, 38% 3 pt, 83% freethrow , 40% 2 pt/field, his junior year.

And 12 to 19 ppg, 5 rebounds per game, 5,6,7 Assist per game, 3 steals per game, 42% 3 pt, 87% freethrow, 43% 2pt/field, his Senior Season.

Either gets drafted as last pick of 2nd Round, or gets snubbed by NBA, either signs undrafted free agent contract, or plays in NBA D League, CBA, or plays overseas.

I think Isaac Bonton is or will be or should be the Real Deal.

Proto Typical True Pure PG is about 5 ft 11 in to 6 ft 2, an 1/2 in. Thats the usual height. Altho 6 ft 4 in to 6 ft 8 in can be true pure point guards, those taller true point guards are rarer

Altho can score by good outside, 3 pt, mid range jumper, shooting, athletically slashing to basket with dribble drive, etc, that is not main focus.

Main focus is having awesome court vision, awesome passing, awesome ball handling, care, control to where can pass from outside to inside scorer, post, and pass from outside to outside scorer, and pass from on the dribble drive to inside, outside scorers.

The main focus of a True Point Guard is getting offense moving, being a court general, leader, calling out plays, making awesome ASSIST passes for ASSIST to scorers.

A True PG is the QB of the team.

His job is to CREATE scoring thru either preferably getting lots of, about 5,6 to 7,8 to 9,10 assist, or as back up option, score when opportunity is there an or create opportunity to score, and score.

Basically a True PG passes first, scores 2nd.

A typical Good True PG Stat Line: 12 ppg, 6,7,8,9 assist per game, 3 rebounds per game, 0,1, 2 turnovers per game, 1,2,3 steals per game, 46% from field, 43% from 3 pt,1,2,3 lay ups, tear drops, runners, inside drive to bucket scores per game, 1,2,3 outside, 3 pt made shots per game, 1,2,3 freethrows made per game, 1,2,3 screens, picks per game

Altho Isaac Bonton is a PG/SG/combo guard. He is not a True Pure PG.

He looks to score first, pass, get assist 2nd.

His Stat line of 21 ppg, 5 rebounds, 3,4,5 assist per game is not a True Pure PG stat line.

Examples of True Pure PG:

John Stockton

Tony Parker

Rondo

Bennie Seltzer

Stephen Curry- Yes he is known for 3 pt shooting, but is a great passing PG

Tim Hardaway

Cameron Dollar- Didnt Score much, only about 3,4,5 ppg, but he was a great Assist passer for UCLA

Bobby Hurley

Steve Nash

Jason Kidd.

One can Make do without a True PG, win, etc.

But True PG help win championships, and its extremely hard to win a championship without a GOOD TRUE PURE PG

Hopefully that answers your question

Now its Dion James, Isaac Bonton, Noah Williams, Rapp, Henson.

Now just need a 5/4 Center/Forward to replace losing Nigel John, Wade Cannon, or just get Nigel John to recommit.

And a True Pure PG to replace losing Chance Moore, and since Noah Williams isnt a True Pure PG, and since Isaac Bonton not a True Pure PG

Noah Williams is a Hybrid/Combo 1/2/3/STRETCH maybe sometimes 4, SG/G/F/3/PG.

If he grows a half inch to inch to 6 ft 5 and 1/2 in to 6 ft 6 in to 6 ft 6 and 1/2 in tall, he will probably be a lot like his father 6 ft 8 in Guy Williams.

Heard that Noah Williams only drawback is a long 2 pt/3pt game.

Heard he has a just barely ok midrange game, and just barely ok freethrow shooter

If Noah Williams learns to shoot long 2 pt/3 pt well, awesomely, and plays defense, he Noah Williams is going to be a HEADACHE for opposing teams.

And plenty of time to learn those things from Smith and his staff.

This recruiting class is already 2,3,4+ times better then Kent's 1st class.

If get a good 5/4 Center/Forward, and a true pure pg, this class would then be 5, 6, 7+ times better then Kent's 1st class.

Truly FREAKING AMAZING AWESOME job by Smith

But Oh No Kent was so good (NOT), and Smith, the SUCKIEST replacement coach ever(NOT), at least according to the most negacoug in WSU history.
