Kent on new guys

Not much on ZZU Mania but an Evergeen article on the new players. Seems like less hyperbole from Kent which is refreshing but Ali, Kunc, and Elleby continue to get hyped.

Also indicated Kunc could get us more looks from overseas players.

Sounds like a fair assessment to me. If anything he is less enthused about the new players than i am.

All sounds good but if you read the article all the assessment comes from Kent and we’ve heard similar assessments before. I’m getting more excited to see Kunc and what he can bring to the table as a freshmen. I liked his signing but really thought any serious contribution would come down the line a year or two.

I thought it was interesting Wade was named as the best rebounder. With the make up of this team, we need someone who can get double digit boards most nights. Wade profiles as someone who could be what Drick Bernstein was as a defender with more range on his jumper. Won't handle the ball much, but also won't have the same number of turnovers.

Not much love for Cannon. Wonder if the redshirt rumors are true after all.

If Kunc has a jumper, he has a place in this offense. I'm not buying the hype on him until I see it in a game though. He's going to get a lot of minutes, but lets hold off on the "best player on the team" talk for a bit.

Elleby... I hope his defense is good to go by conference play. Looking forward to seeing him develop.

Robinson and Ali seem to have complementary skill sets. Robinson seems like a true point guard, Ali might be a dynamic scorer. Entirely possible they each average around 30 minutes a game.

Only tape I have seen is of Kunc. HE has a really nice stroke with good range. Doesnt mean they go in, but my guess is the kids A shooter.

Also Cannon is a soph if I remember. Does he have 4 to play 3.

Kunc and Elleby are pretty good high school signings for us over the last 20 years. You never know how it will work out until a few years down the road though.

Now if we could just add January to the mix.
