I think he low key paid out the Ernie contract and pushed for the Kyle Smith hire.Meant to post his here as opposed to the other Klay thread......
Great post, great props by Klay.
So question - I have never seen, nor have I read, anything to indicate that Klay has given dime one to WSU. I sort of expected some sort of announcement when we retired his jersey, which frankly was undeserved based upon his WSU career as opposed to others.
Would appreciate any insight - an anonymous $5 mil donation?
Reminds me of Leaf - he signed what - a $40 million contract w/the Chargers? And thanks us with his whopping $250K donation.
Then why reply if you have no insight? No insight here, but I don't spend your money, nor Klay's.
Then why reply if you have no insight?
And are you saying that after Klay tells us that no one wanted him except WSU, and now he's richer than God and we retired his jersey because he basically demanded that we do it, that he couldn't put some "skin in the game"?

As a public, non-profit institution, WSU (and by extension, Athletics) does actually have to report donations. On their 990 tax return at least. I see that the Foundation apparently no longer posts its major donor list online, which in the past did mask "anonymous" donors names. The PDC version of the 990 can do the same name masking to some extent. But they still have to list each gift of over $5,000.The entire episode is here:
Go ahead and believe Klay doesn't have 'skin in the game' if you wish. That's, like, your opinion, man.

I'm simply stating that there is no indication that Klay has ever given anything to WSU of any significance. I certainly have never seen any evidence of it, and I have looked extensively. You think different? Show me the evidence and I will eat crow all week long.
Goddamit - this site has become a cluster for us Boomers. Meant to post this here......
Edit: And BTW, I made the same assertion many years ago about Bill Moos, back when the WSU Foundation actually published major donors names (including noting "anonymous" donors as such). Bill never gave $hit. Prove me wrong. C'mon, bring it. Walden gave over $250K, and still gets roasted on the FB board.
So hey, Klay, how about you give about as much, proportionately, (income wise) as I have given to WSU in my life? I'm thinking that would be about $10 million. (Yeah my 7-11 wages don't allow for big donations).
Hey crazy:If Klay gives a donation of $5000+ UNDER THE NAME OF KLAY THOMPSON, then your right, that they have to publically disclose that Klay Thompson donated that amount.
But if Klay DONATES ANONYMOUSLY, WITHOUT GIVING HIS NAME, $5000+, them all WSU would have to publically report is that a anonymous donor donated $5000+.
In the USA, whether it's to a charity, a college, a nonprofit, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOUR NAME NO MATTER HOW BIG THE DONATION.
Because of that, a person can anonymously donate millions, billions.
And WSU is under no obligations, rules, laws, etc, to require big donors to give their name, and WSU can let a donor donate millions anonymously, as long as they WSU discloses that they received a anonymous million dollar donation.
One of the extremely ultimately few exceptions to this is if a person donates millions to a nonprofit political candidate or campaign, the campaign or candidate has to disclose the name of the donor, and the donor is not allowed to donate anonymously.
Since WSU is not a political candidate, campaign, etc, WSU is allowed to let a person donate millions anonymously.
Maybe your right that Klay hasn't donated a Big $750,000+ donation. Maybe he has. We don't know.
Also there are other ways besides donating $3 million, that alumni, famous Bledsoe, Rypien, Klay types, can give, bring value to WSU.
Even if Klay hasn't made a big donation, and donated a smaller amount like 25k to 250k, he Klay has still been of value to WSU, still contributed WSU, still helped plugged, talked WSU up, still has represented WSU, still has talked to recruits, helped WSU recruit, etc.
Klay is still a class act, and still is deserving of being honored by WSU.
YOUR NOT ONLY WRONG, BUT YOUR BEING UNFAIR TO KLAY, SEEMING TO DISS, PUT DOWN, ETC, TO KLAY, AND YOUR BEHAVING LIKE AS IF YOU HAVE A STICK UP YOUR ASS WRONGFULLY OVER KLAY.
CHILL OUT.
SHEESH.
Hey crazy:
I am not "wrong". Your own nonsensical rant validates that.
Let's just simplify things. I assert that Klay Thompson has not ever made any significant monetary donation to WSU (Athletics or otherwise). If anyone has information to indicate otherwise, then let's hear it. If not, end of thread.
