being his co-offensive coordinators, and why he has always called plays. And it may be a double edge word but his logic is sound. Said that by him calling the plays it gives him the continuity when an assistant leaves the same plays are being called. It is probably why his offenses don't seem to miss a beat between seasons.

The flip side is the position coaches seem to leave because they want it on their resume to call plays. But at some point they will leave anyway to further their career, but to become a coordinator they do have to go to another school. Interesting comment.

He's good at it. Until that changes he should keep doing it.

Well, in all fairness, Leach only has about 6 plays. Of which, the QB can check out at any time depending on the reads.

It's a system, not a playbook. "Calling plays" would be pretty boring to an up and comer trying to make a name for themselves.

Harrell's gone totally rogue at SC with 12 plays. Yeah, Leach has said the QB sees things better than he can on the sideline and needs to adjust accordingly. I still would opt for Leach calling one of the six plays initially than someone else.

Totally agree. Not sure he would ever be bad at it. He has something Klff and others don't. He doesn't fall in love with QB's. He is cowboy tough, and even though some call one of the few coaches who the SEC for example would call a finesse offense and knows he has to have five guys in the trenches that set the tone. Guys like kliff and Harrell don’t have that same toughness and believe their qb’s will make up for the line not being tough and there lies the difference between leach and other air raid coaches .

Not to mention that whether Leach has an offensive coordinator or not, it is still Leach's variation of the Air Raid that they run. So, Leach is always in fact, the offensive coordinator. At WSU, he cut out the middle man and is his own coordinator.

Really? Does he write them on small sheet of paper? I had heard that once...per game...every game...by every announcer...ever.

Honestly that is one of the great mysteries about Leach . He is close to 59. He has the mini pieces of papers and he doesn’t require readers . How does he have such good eye sight at his age. A medical marvel ....

I am 72, so consider myself somewhat of an expert on age-related eye deterioration. The majority of debilitation occurs post-65 and at some point stabilizes until cataract procedures are required. I have had the same lens prescription for roughly 6 years.

Got me thinking....
Great question for a reporter to ask i.e. reading small cards with no help at his age. Leach would probably go into a 10 minute soliloquy on serif vs. sans serif, font size, Garamond vs. Times New Roman and the benefits of carrots on eyesight.

Contacts?

I am pretty positive he does not wear contacts and not sure contacts help reading small print but could be wrong . Several friends wear contacts but when at a restaurant they pull out their readers

As well as the extra cost of a coordinator gets distributed throughout his staff
