Leach tweet

I agree 100% that there wasn't any intentional racism by Leach. I agree that the kid over-reacted and should have made an effort to reach out to Leach if he was that offended. I also think that if Leach really cared about "the kids" the way that people think he does, and if he wasn't so damned arrogant, he would have taken the time to talk to the kid. I don't buy the BS above about "is the juice worth the squeeze". Leach hasn't been around long enough to know anything about the kid. If he's willing to dismiss a kid as worthless based on being upset about a joke that was perceived as racist, it's not a positive look for Leach as a "leader of young men". If he's burned out to the point where anyone that doesn't like it should hit the road......maybe he is as close to retiring to the Keys as others have suggested that he is. He didn't owe the kid a meeting or a phone call....but a better man would have done it.

I'm hoping that Rolovich is as good of a coach as he is a PR guy, because I'm sick of having a coach who's more famous because he's a cazy a-hole than he is for actually winning championships. I watched his clip from "Friday Night Lights" that someone posted on Facebook earlier in the week. Holy sh!t....it's pure cringe when you watch it through the filter that he's no longer our coach.

Yeah, his schtick wore thin with me.

He was above being questioned. Kept doing the same thing over and over against UW and expecting the same results. Then blamed the kids when it didn't work out.

Stupid clock management against CSU and Colorado and then doesn't take blame for it etc etc.

I'm in the minority here in regards to his dealings with Blanchette...but he behaves like a petulant child when criticized and while Blanchette is a total ass hat, Leach was a bully in that situation.

Most people don't realize that Leach has never won a conference title because his quarky personality takes center stage.

I like the idea of Rolo's personality not sucking the oxygen out of the room.

This string of posts is correct- its not about being racist or not, its about being wise enough late in your career to foresee a self-inflicted injury and AVOID IT. Then of course being as arrogant as his hero, he feels compelled to doubling-down on his self-inflicted mistake because it is not possible in his mind to just say he made a mistake.

But the core of all of this is that the cartoon just wasn't funny. Not because it was offensive, just because it was lame. And reposting a lame cartoon is really the lowest form of humor. For somebody like Leach that thinks he is just so clever, that is the reason he can't fix this. He would rather be labeled a racist than admit he really isn't that clever or funny.

yes he deserves to be punished because his tweet wasn't "funny"

good logic

Lol

Roy, CO did not suggest that CML deserved to be punished because he wasn't funny.

He instead noted the futility of CML trying to fix the situation...a situation of his own creation, which someone who imagines himself to be so brilliant should easily have avoided in the first place. And I think CO has a reasonable perspective that for many it wasn't offensive as much as it was simply lame. Of course, for some it was both lame AND offensive. Gotta understand your audience. CML lived in Kentucky and Texas. He really should "get it" if he is broad based in his intelligence, as opposed to being just a football savant. CML sees himself as being the renaissance man...but renaissance men don't do incredibly lame things. And therein lies the conundrum.

He isn't a smart man. Smart men know better.
