He cares about winning. He doesn't care about appearance. It isn't about vindication of anything. If Leach thinks a coach can help him win, he would hire him. If he thought Wulff himself could help him win, he would hire Wullff too.

You're assuming Ball is the best candidate available and offers the best chance of winning. It's just a matter of opinion as is mine.

If leach was to hire Ball, most of the cougs fans would be very disappointed. I doubt that many fans here think that he is competent and the best available coach.

I thought I was very clear about what happened. It wasn't about Leach nor WSU, but I would surmise it was about what he envisioned as a great opportunity to advance his career.

This would have never been talked about if Brand X didn't write the story. This is something I discovered awhile back. Just an interesting story about the coaching world, nothing more, nothing less.

So, you're saying Ball was offered the DC job by Leach and chose to go to ASU instead?

That's not exactly what the BX story said, but if that's what you heard, fine.

Depends on what position he's filling. He'd be fine as a DB coach. Pair him with someone like Bobby Jack Wright and it would be a step in the right direction for the defense in general and the secondary in particular.

exactly what Brand X said...almost. Brand X said Ball strung :Leach along. If Ball wasn't offered a position there is no "stringing". There are two parts of the story that are slightly off. I wouldn't say he was offered the DC over Breske, but maybe a more accurate picture would be a Sears/Ball compliment to the position. By stringing Leach along he chose to go to ASU thinking it was a better way to get a head coaching gig. It back fired, which truly is the interesting part of the story.

The second inaccuracy is Leach actually calling Ball as a courtesy. It is pretty clear if he strung Leach along (which I 100% believe what happened) Leach doesn't make the call. I could easily see the call coming into Pullman.
