UW would have easily vaulted over tOSU and OU for the final spot in the playoffs if they had not tripped over themselves and found ways to lose to UO and Cal.

The CFP clearly looks at both tOSU and OU as flawed but will reluctantly have to pick one of them in, because there is no one else .

Not sure you get a better scenario than UW had this year a talented Senior loaded team and the now the table has been perfectly set for PO selection. Like I have said before I really can't figure out what they really want other than AC domination, but I would think they at some point would have some regrets about the missed opportunity this year presented.

Huh?! Dont you mean the table was set for WSU to make the play off?

Actually both.

But just looking at the rosters UW is the team loaded with Seniors and this was this really their last shot with that core group.

If WSU does not have any early departures of Junior players to the NFL, personally think if they can hit on a QB they will be a better and more complete team next year.

On defense the D-line and Secondary should be clearly better and the LB group should be a push.

On offense the O-line should be about the same, but man if Williams/ Borgi keep their upward trend and receivers do as well, that may be the most dynamic skill group in CFB. Key unknown of course is QB.

Not even saying all of that to disparage this season. But this team greatly overachieved this year to get to 10 wins. Sheer grit and determination. Next year I could see double digit wins on pure talent and experience.

Contrast that with UW and they are going to have huge rebuilds across the board next year. Graduation and probably a fair amount of NFL defections. This was more their key year IMO.

If we hadn't gacked on the AC, it certainly would be an interesting conversation this week. Oklahoma, WSU and Ohio State would be an interesting contrast in programs. All three have great offenses but WSU is the only one that has what would be considered a competent defense. Oklahoma and Ohio State have tradition and experience in big games that WSU can't compete with. WSU has fans that are intense and support them diligently but we aren't large in numbers. Oklahoma and Ohio State have legions of t-shirt fans.

In terms of the original comment, the post is 100% accurate. The mutts would be the obvious #4 right now if they hadn't gacked in their other conference games. 12-1 UW with it's sole loss being a "road" game three time zones away would be valued more highly than Ohio State with their ass-kicking at the hands of a truly bad Purdue team.

The moral of the story is uw has underachieved. And not just this year. As Ping has pointed out, uw’s mostsignificant wins since 2015 have been in the AC. Beating CU in the 2016 PAC-12 championship game is the only other big win uw fans can point at.

Yup 5-0 for coach Pete in this game and he’s still got the same conference record as Leach the last 4 years. Hard to argue he’s got UW setting the world on fire. They are a consistently good team and have given us fits, but that’s about it. They tripped over their dicks when they had a chance with some gamechanging talent, and to me this is CPs ceiling. If he realizes that he will bolt to SC just like Sark.

If he were to ever bolt you would have to think it would be this year.

Actually was surprised when I looked at their depth chart how much rebuilding they will have do next year.

They probably will still be a good unit but that will be a drastically different looking team next year.
