More Apple Cups.

Not to mention scheduling a slate of games against “weaker teams” to rack up W’s is a great way to become one of those “weaker teams”. The coaches you want want to coach against top programs and the players you want want to compete with them. We’ve got to find a way through this to put some compelling games together that will keep WSU interesting. Playing 10 straight weeks of largely unknown schools won’t do that.

If anything, scheduling the AC is doing what you asked for. As far as the rest of our schedule goes, you are seriously deluded if you think that scheduling only Power 5 opponents as an independent isn't going to result in a terrible record and far too many body-bag road games.

Where the F did I say that? I said you probably don’t want to schedule 10 irrelevant teams in a row…cuz that will make you…gasp…irrelevant!

As for your first line I have no idea where you are going with it. I was ready to be done with the UW game. And as far as I’m concerned it’s no longer the Apple Cup. They killed it and everything else when they burned the conference to the ground. But there’s some valid points by Patrol and others as to why this arrangement could be a net positive for this stretch of uncertainty. Of course you’re also taking their word for it they are coming to Pullman which is a big gamble.

We'll see how it plays out but if you think that Power 5 programs are going to be jumping on the opportunity to schedule home and homes with us right now when they know that we don't have any leverage.....you are crazy.

What you fail to seem to grasp...and you are not alone in this...is that it doesn't matter that you are worried about us becoming irrelevant. Given our current situation....we are irrelevant right now. If we weren't, we wouldn't be watching Arizona, ASU, Utah and CU get invited to the Big 12 and Cal and Stanford heading to the ACC while we are left holding the bag. Delude yourself all you want...but the ship has already sailed and all we can do is make the best of it.

Thinking that we were too good for other schools is why the Pac-12 is dead. The Big 12 survived because they held their nose and brought in BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF and took the media deal that they were offered. Frankly, even though it sucks, I don't blame USC, UCLA, Oregon and UW for bailing to the B1G. The system is rigged and they did what is best for them. Don't worry though...the frail four that went to the Big 12 have their day coming. It's only a matter of time before that conference is relegated to the second tier too.

Maybe I missed your post explaining this but curious what your solution is. UW is an OOC game which has agreed in principal to a home and home so it satisfies the never gonna happen scenario you just mentioned. Are we going to schedule 3-4 more? Probably gonna be tough. We have the Beavs. Maybe do a series with the academies where you play each of them over the next three years? At least that’s interesting. Going to have to be creative. You need some schools that will draw eyeballs sprinkled in with the MWC.

Without a doubt, we are going to need to rethink our future schedules. It looks like we'll have a spot in 2025 and I think that we should be looking Power 5 for that extra game. Depending on future conference ties, we still have at least one spot in 2026 and it would be a good idea for that game to be against a Power 5 opponent.

I don't disagree that we need to leverage our schedule as much as we can, but at the same time, knowing who we are is going to be important too. Qualifying for a bowl game is more important than getting our asses kicked with the hopes that other will say, "Geez...WSU really is a Power 5 school still!" If we are good enough to actually compete against Power 5 schools, let's go for it. If we aren't, I'd rather have people bitch about our squishy soft schedule than have a losing season.

How many sh!tty football games are on September 14th? The answer is "a lot". We don't know what's going to happen but pissing down our legs isn't the solution. The Mountain West has 12 teams and the Cougs and Beavers will play 6 teams each next year. We'll have our game against each other.....that's 7 games. We already had SDSU, Portland State and San Jose State scheduled....so that's 10 games. The Apple Cup gives us an 11th game for 2024.

All we have to do is get one other game scheduled. Get another game against someone like Cal or Stanford and we'll have a decent schedule. I understand the frustration, but until proven otherwise, I'm going with the optimistic approach.
So your solution is to add another shitty football game to September 14th?

I don’t see why we can’t get some games done with the B12. Kirk should have some relationships from his time there, make it happen.

Just for the record... Not one of you has shown me why its right to do the fuskies vs. Oregon.

Therefore... I win

I did say that Chun had asked the athletes and they wanted to continue the rivalry...so there's that.
Have you seen the stretch legged jeans guys are wearing these days?

1) This causes very little value in what they say/vote.

2) The sales of those jeans seems to be in sync with men somehow being on women's swim teams.

I'm just sayin'

And I wonder if any of those girly men wandering around in the stretchy skinny jeans realize 1. how silly they look in them and 2. that those were the fashion fad back in the 1960's? Yep, that's right, back in the 1960's you had skinny jeans (high water, mostly), Beatle boots, and surfer shirts. LOL

The fact that I just posted a promise to Spongy to never reference women again forces me to decline a comment on yoga pants.
