Moving on....what type of "philosophy" do we want offensively?

The "Coug Raid" ran by Dickert was basically a read option where Mateer wanted to run. Zero mesh route concepts and it seems pretty easy to defend.

I hope we move to a different version of the Air Raid (closer to Leach's version) with using the QB and RB running plays more when the defense drops 8 into coverage.

Defensively, we just need to focus on fundamentals and simplifying things is my read.

seriously?

I'm completely numb to any of this kind of talk.

ok, I'll play:
a system that can run on shit players with shit coaches against superior competition and still win. Whatever that is, I'll take it.

We need a system. Don't really care what it is, as long as we're running a system. Triple option, Air Raid, whatever.

I do not want to see a Wulff-Sturdy "multiple" offense.

Any system that can be successfully implemented and executed during the one season starters and coaches will be here to run it.

Actually it was a hybrid combination of the Mike Price Offense, RPO, Spread, Read Option, The Sonny Dyke version of the Air Raid, that Dickert called his MULTIPLE OFFENSE, that was supposed to Pass the ball about 57% to 59% to 62% of time and run the ball 38% to 42% to 44% of time, that supposed to take whatever defense allowed, and that supposed to use every blade of grass.

The only problem was 1. It was not executed well enough by Arbuckle.

2. You need a Troy Bienaman level TE, WR, 3+ Kyle Williams level WR's, 2 Wayshawn Parker level RB's, 1,2 Mateer type, level QB1's, 8,9 O Line that can, do both run block, and pass block well, and a HC, OC, as good as Price, Leach, Dickert, that unlike Leach, unlike Arbuckle will call good plays, have the great QB read defense, AUDIBLE, take whatever the defense gives whether run or pass, and use whole field.

3. The QB's have to be Price+ level coaches on the field.

4. HC, assistant coaches need to recruit executors.

5. Need a true dual threat QB.

Great, awesome offense that better then a lot of offenses, when it is executed by capable players, coaching staff.

Not as easy to put together all the system, scheme, players, coaches, pieces.

That's the downside.

The upside is that currently college footballdom is extremely pass happy, Leach Air Raid, so even tho it's harder to get the MULTIPLE offense pieces, if do get those pieces, it will be semi easier to keep those pieces, at least for a semi while in theory.

I actually like the offense.

I like the MIX, balance, using whole field, taking whatever the defense allows, etc.

I don't like either Passing 1000% of the time with little to no run, OR running 1000% of the time, with little to no passing.

I want to expand a Mike Price recruiting philosophy...He used to recruit TE's as athletes...Faster, bigger ones became D-linemen...Slower bigger ones O-linemen...I propose going further with Receivers like the last good ones at Stanford (TE size)...Backs are TE recruits 230-250 lbs...All can block...All can catch...Run based as we would give up speed for size...QB around 6'4" and dual threat...

Is the development model sustainable? As soon as the breakout year happens (if it actually does), they're in the portal and getting NIL cash. Price only had to worry about early departures for the NFL.

Probably not sustainable...Would be several hits and misses...Hopefully there would be more good recruiting hits than bad ones...Given where we're headed as a program I suspect three star level recruits are the best we could do...Since most speed recruits would be 4-5 star (Not coming here) should go for strength and size for an advantage....I know that I am personally tired of the Air Raid (Preferred the West Coast offense)...We're screwed no matter what...

I think the Leach model worked. Get a stable of QBs that can run the scheme. If one goes down, next man up.

I think we need to build better depth and have better competition was well.

We either won or lost based on Mateer this year. We have to be more balanced and less reliant on one player.
