Apparently, that's one of the big reasons why they haven't gotten rid of Shaw.

It's become increasingly difficult for the Cardinal to recruit 20 elite kids. You're talking about SAT scores of at least 1150 and a GPA at 3.5 out of high school. The transfer credentials are even stricter, as you need a 3.5 GPA from accredited collegiate coursework to transfer into Stanford.

The real whammy for the Cardinal is that the kids who do make it in are so elite, they end up earning their degrees in 3 years. As a result, the transfer portal has started a new trend at Stanford. Play for 3 years, earn your Stanford degree, and then transfer to another school to focus on football fulltime. I believe that since 2019, Stanford is last (or nearly last) in the conference in the portal +/- rankings.
I blame our growing epidemic of trying racialize testing standards and classroom expectations in our public schools. Our educational system has been hijacked by radicals intent on dumbing down our society. I mean, just look at WillieCrackHead.... Need I say more?

If the Big 10 Grabs UW and Oregon, I hope the Big 12 or ACC is looking for a West Coast connection. If the Pac and keep 8 teams together a "Pacific Divsion" might have some merit, Play 7 games within the division and 2 with the from other teams in the conference, rotating every 2 years. I home, 1 Away, so the increase in travel would be minimal. Which would be more attractive than the Big 10 travel, the only problem is the money isn't as great at the Big 10, but hopefully better than what we have now.

Take this s**t to its own thread - there's plenty of others where you can bugger off to.

Actual WSU football and dialogue is taking place here.

I’m taking a big wait and see on this happening. Many reports already stating that the Big 10 would NOT take any more members, at least soon. Many Big 10 Pres. And ADs have stated they didn’t want to split the pie any further. Something big would have had to happen to change this. It’s been shown UW and Oregon don’t bring enough to the table and adding Stanford and Cal even less. Might make sense for a super conference alignment, but several the schools already don’t want to share Foxes money with two more addition, would be a big sell to add four.

Meanwhile I feel Kliavkoff is doing his best to make the PAC look more appealing to those still here (and UCLA). Much of it is out of his hands, but he seems to be checking boxes. I would definitely feel differently if Scott was still around, but Kliavkoff comes across as at least capable.

But agree with other that if this happen the PAC is dead and WSU football not far behind (at least how we’ve know it). Don’t see an ACC or Big 12 partnership with WSU or a new PAC and don’t think the PAC leftovers along with MWC additions bring enough to the table to get a automatic bid to the playoffs.

Some great points here. I listened to Slick Rick's comments and they just sound to me like uninformed speculation based on what makes sense in theory from a Tyee Club and Uncle Phil perspective if one isn't cognizant of the details of the Big Ten's situation (e.g., that it has internal stakeholders who don't want to expand beyond USC and UCLA, and if they did so, it would be Notre Dame if that was on the table, with dominos falling after that) and that UW and Oregon don't bring enough on their own.

Note, though, that the 12-team CFP model contemplates the "six highest-ranking conference champions" getting automatic bids. That was a nod to the G of 5, contemplating the American and MWC sending their champs to the playoff. I would expect a reconstituted Pac-X to be in the mix for an automatic bid even in a worst-case scenario in which the Mountain and Arizona schools, and Stanford and Cal, bail, leaving WSU and Oregon State to essentially join the MWC, whether it's renamed or not. Even the current MWC stands to get an automatic bid.

IF IF IF the Big 10 grabs UW/Oregon, and if either the ACC, Big 12 is looking for a west coast connection, the Big 12 would take Utah, Cal, and Stanford either would go INDEPENDENT, an or to Big 12, and Colorado, Arizona would goto the Big 12, and the Pac 12 would be LEFT with WSU, Ore St, ASU, maybe, maybe not Colorado, if Cal goes Big 12, maybe, maybe not Cal, if Colorado goes Big 12, SDSU, SMU, BSU, Fresno St, UNLV, Airforce, Hawaii, CSU, Wyoming, Gonzaga, NDSU, etc.

The Pac would be a Mid major non P5, group of 5(6) conference, with only 1,ONE 13-0, 12-1 team going to expanded play off, with NO ROSEBOWL, with only the 1. Las Vegas Bowl, 2. LA Bowl, 3. Sun Bowl, and no Alamo, no Holiday bowl, no NY6 bowls, etc.

WSU, Ore St, Colorado, ASU, Arizona, Cal, as LEFTOVERS, LEFT BEHINDS, would not as a stay together group, would not go to either ACC, Big 12, and be their own division. That would be wishful, delusional thinking to think that would happen, have a chance of happening.

So what I posted has no merit to what Stanford is experiencing? And if this is solely about WSU football, then why are we discussing issues Shaw and Stanford are facing in regards to their lofty academic standards as it relates to their recruiting efforts?

My bad didn't do my homework on how many FBS conference there are. Looks like a Pac/MWC would have to fend of a American minus Cinnci , the Mid-Atlantic and Sun Belt.

Stranger things have happened, but:
  1. There were no leaks before SC/UCLA were gone
  2. The only program the B1G has publicly pursued is ND
  3. If UW/Oregon etc. added value, wouldn't they have been added with SC/UCLA
Why would any B1G program signup to make less money? It just doesn't seem to pencil out the B1G continues to expand at this point. Like I said though, stranger things...
