brand x has WSU offering Tyler Bey a reclassified 2017 forward. He has a pretty good list of suitors including some PAC 12 teams. There are some nice videos online. He seems to be athletic and reports say he is very fast, his skills have held him back in the past but have greatly improved bringing the increasing interest.

His video looks very good with a great deal of athleticism. He is a developing talent. i would say that SDSU,Nevada and the cougs re now at the top of his list.

I hate going by video, but his speed and athleticism for his size is undeniable. I would take him in a minute

But the video prompts you to say "his speed and athleticism for his size is undeniable." It's a good thing coaches don't look at video before deciding which prospects to recruit.

I don't think they make offers based only on video. I was merely pointing out that video can make a player look a lot more skilled than he really is. Tanner Lancona comes to mind. I thought the kid was a cant miss based on video. People who saw him in person were much less enthusiastic. In this case I saw a 6-7 kid with great athleticism who probably has to improve his skills, but has a Pac 12 body.

Well, my post says video is used in deciding just who is recruited, as in contacting a recruit, his coach, watching in-game performances (this is where the level of competition is factored in), and checking academic transcripts. But thanks for perverting it to "offers based only on video."

Video is important as they are sometimes the first time a coach has seen a recruit. if interested a coach will then go and see a recruit play. Not everyone is a 4 star or even three star designated player. As Yaki says then they check transcripts and talk to the coach. i referred a woman volleyball player to WSU from a small school of about 450 total students. The coach checked her out and got into a heated recruiting battle which she eventually lost Of course,it helped that she was 6'7 coordinated and a great talent. The point is that she was unknown to most of the volleyball world but was extended an college offer when she was a sophomore in HS by a major state university. Not every player is known and coaches have to start somewhere.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I was talking in terms of me as a fan, not a coach. Video can be very misleading if that is the only view you have. Just saying that what I saw in this kids video was less likely to be over hype. You cant edit for size and speed as easily as for missed shots and bad passes.

It is a strange happening but i have never seen a potential recruit miss a shot or make a bad pass on their video :)
