Judge sees birth certificate and SS card but doesn't have jurisdiction to order him released?

So when are you F-ing Trumpers going to finally see the carnage this rotten F-er is inflicting on the USA? And F-ing Florida - what a bunch of loons down there. It just gets worse every G-D day. And I won't even get started on the Harvard shit. The oldest University in the country, and home to how many Presidents?

They won’t. They’re brainwashed and in a cult. They will drink the Jonestown Koolaid and all die together before they admit they were wrong.

America has a secret police in brown shirts and red hats rounding up people.

It was a county court judge, so I can see the argument that she didn’t have authority to lift an ICE hold. But…ICE has no authority over citizens and can’t request an immigration hold for a citizen, so it wasn’t valid in the first place and should have been disregarded.

Two things happened here that are bad signs for what’s to come:
- this guy was pretty clearly arrested for being brown and having a Hispanic name
- this judge didn’t have the balls to make a pretty obvious legal judgement, probably due to fear she’d be sanctioned or fired for contradicting Trump/DeSantis policy.

Related - the Supreme Court said that they’ll hear arguments about Trump’s attempts to reinterpret the 14th amendment. He wants to be able to deport people who were born in the US if their parents weren’t here legally. How many of you can prove that your parents were legal? Or their parents?

How far does the question go? Do I need the naturalization papers for my great grandparents, so I can show that my grandparents and parents were citizens? Or do I need to learn to speak Norwegian, German, or Gaelic?

EDIT: I did some checking. My great-grandparents arrived in 1920 and were naturalized in late 1922. My grandpa was born in 1921. So maybe I should be hiding from ICE….

As long as you’re white and don’t criticize El Presidente or Israel you should be OK.

Just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean you are in the US illegally.

Relax. Ice will never come for you.

White...check.

Criticizing the president has been a pretty common pasttime for...well, since the Carter era.

I don't know that I criticize Israel much - mostly I don't care. I don't see that the US gets much benefit out of consistently backing them thought. And, I don't really think that committing genocide in order to prevent genocide is a very sensible path forward.

Damn, I just criticized them. I guess I'll go pack...

Are you sure? Under Trump's logic, you can't be a citizen if your parents weren't. So how many generations does that apply to?

Anyone who was here before the 1906 Naturalization Act is legally fine. But for any arrivals after that....if he gets his interpretation, where is the line?

EDIT: By the way, I have two words for you: Martin Niemoller.

With regards to voter fraud, I was told that it is statistically insignificant. That we shouldn't expect proper controls and procedures in place to assure absolute security.

Deporting 1 US citizen inadvertently is statistically insignificant to the number of illegal aliens that are going to leave the country - on their own or via ICE's efforts.

Or are we playing with different sets of standards here? Statistical insignificance only applies when it's your team's ball.

Both are subject to criticism as far as I'm concerned - the Constitution allows that in 1A.

Now, whether any particular criticism is valid is up for debate. But as for me, neither are perfect. That only happened once in human history - and for those of you taking Good Friday off, you know who I'm referencing.

Sad that eggs are still so expensive. Have fun dying marshmallows for Sunday.

Using the same logic, it would be OK to execute a few innocent people as long as most of the people on death row are guilty?

I disagree, based largely on the idea that there should be plenty of checks in place before deportation that would allow a citizen to prove that they're a citizen. In this Florida case, he was able to produce a social security card and a birth certificate, and the judge still wouldn't release him.

Add to that the fact that it appears that if this administration accidentally deports someone, they'll do nothing to fix the mistake.

Sure - why not? (sarcasm)

Looks to me like the judge F'd up. Honestly don't know enough about the specifics here to form an opinion. But a US citizen belongs in the US on face value.

Now, relative to non-US citizens who entered the US illegally and get tossed out, that's their problem.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this - but I see the mutts are getting hit by the student deportation frenzy.

I really don't get what the Administration is doing here, or how/why they are identifying and selecting these particular students. In this case, uw says they weren't engaged in any protest-type activity. How have we, in 3 months, come to this? All the bad guys been deported already? Every "illegal" alien cleansed from the US already?

And uw has 8,000 international students. All paying non-res tuition I imagine, at least the undergrads. You know, I've never been a fan of letting students from China and some (OK any) Middle Eastern country come to the US to learn so they can go back home and use it against us, or stay here and take jobs from citizens. So if we were to say "no more" I'd be OK. But don't chop them off mid-education and mid-semester.

It would be nice if uw took a lot more in state kids as opposed to current practice of giving preferential treatment to foreigners and out of staters who will pay full tuition but that’s another rant all together. F them.

Ain't no money in the poor redneck kids from the 509.

That’s the system created by the Washington state legislature. There’s really no financial reason to take in-state kids…and there’s a significant financial incentive to taking international ones. WSU has the same situation and the same math.

It’s not just the state of Washington - pretty much all schools rely on International students. Good chance many of these students are looking at other options due to the risk of coming to the US and US schools take a financial hit.

EDIT: By the way, I have two words for you: Martin Niemoller.
95, Niemoller’s incredible lifetime example of faith linked to justice and the responsibility of the individual to speak out against both dictators and injustice deserves more than just a reference today (of all days). The quote to which you alluded, for those who did not get the reference:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

They arent all poor are they?
Not in YakiVegas. Judging from the many fancy private planes (some jets) I see taking off from the airport every day. That may change after half of the fruit industry workers get deported.

Those flights are drug dealers and coyotes, not fruit magnates.

one has real world impact on people and the other does not.

nice try though.

are you suggesting that happened because of voter fraud? because if you are, that is just more proof that your brain has been melted beyond repair
You suggested that.

Are you suggesting that millions of people killed has no real world impact?

Doesn't get much more real than alive or dead.

The millions of people killed by weapons supplied by the US military industrial complex or covert actions might just disagree.

What's kind of adorable about this comment is that the dear leader wants to throw another hundred million dollars at the US military industrial complex. Maybe if you care so much about all those millions of people, you should reach out to congressman and ask them to reduce funding for that.

Or, just like everything else, are you kind of full of sh!t?

Maybe if those millions voted for leaders who don't invade countries and aren't dictators they may be alive .

lol. I doubt one person here watches Maddow. Maybe Krusty? Btw. Where is ol krusty?

In contrast I guarantee 80% of you maga f-tards here have Fox News on at least 6 hours a day. One of your buddies even talked regularly about how great Tucker and Hannity were.

And then there’s Uber telling us we are all uninformed by posting CATTURD. You idiots are the gift that keeps on giving 😂

What slays me is how the Trolls (2 and a growing waiting list) have so much time on their hands that they can post and search for stupid X shit endlessly. What about their jobs and family and friends (if any)? I'm just a retired bum so I have all day to do whatever I want but actually have other interests besides haunting WW all day, every day.

Efficiency, is your answer. I spend about 10-15 minutes here a day as entertainment.

I can find well researched, well reasoned answers to most any question in mere seconds by utilizing state of the art technology most in this forum have yet to experience(statistically speaking) let alone master.
