https://www.si.com/college/stanford...n-to-resurface-following-the-oliver-luck-news. Kliavkof is being bypassed, good
I’ve seen other articles that say the remaining 4 are basically bypassing Kliavkoff now, in favor of Luck. That he’s effectively no longer commissioner, they just haven’t formalized it.He was hired as a consultant last week. No new news beyond that as far I can tell.
Whether this is hire the consultant as the next commissioner, we shall see. There would have to be a conference in order for there to be a commissioner.
I wonder what his golden parachute is.I’ve seen other articles that say the remaining 4 are basically bypassing Kliavkoff now, in favor of Luck. That he’s effectively no longer commissioner, they just haven’t formalized it.
The bylaws specifically state that individuals can’t receive disbursements, so best case his contract gets paid. He can’t get a dissolution package.I wonder what his golden parachute is.
Yeah but what is his contract? I guess it doesn't really matter. We need to jettison that guy while we still have 12 teams to pay the freight. The bylaws specifically state that individuals can’t receive disbursements, so best case his contract gets paid. He can’t get a dissolution package.
$400M?I wonder what his golden parachute is.
I had read recently that he has 3 years remaining in his contract and his annual salary was something like $3.5 million per year.Yeah but what is his contract? I guess it doesn't really matter. We need to jettison that guy while we still have 12 teams to pay the freight.
This explains why he's been so silent even after the Pac-12 Media Days Conference. Since then, no public presser or interviews. He clearly was a wrong hire. Another lessons learned.I had read recently that he has 3 years remaining in his contract and his annual salary was something like $3.5 million per year.
I hope this is not true but if it is, how do you possibly hire a guy with no relevant experience into that role at that salary? F-ing idiot Presidents. Starting with Schulz. If the Board of Regents weren't just a puppet show, heads would be rolling.I had read recently that he has 3 years remaining in his contract and his annual salary was something like $3.5 million per year.

I'm never giving another dime to WSU.
A group effort for sureIt’s incredible and ridiculous that WSU’s main guys are blaming the PAC-12 guys. They were helping to steer the ship too. They are also culpable in this disaster. C’mon guys ‘own up’.
Not donating will make WSU great! Please teach them a lesson.I hope this is not true but if it is, how do you possibly hire a guy with no relevant experience into that role at that salary? I don't know how Luck was a candidate to replace Larry and doesn't get hired. I'd really love to know who was pushing for GK over Luck. I'd love to see a lawsuit reach the discovery phase just to see the inner workings of the Pac's decision making process. There was clearly incompetence at best and disingenuous intent at worstThis is great news! Too bad we didn't have Luck from the get go.
I don't know how Luck would have done any better with the Presidents telling him what to do. That ESPN offer/counter offer was a joke that they pushed George to follow up on.I don't know how Luck was a candidate to replace Larry and doesn't get hired. To be fair, he actually managed to negotiate better deals than the Big12 got, but we didn’t take it. Schools pushed to 50 mil instead of 32-35. Also the apple deal at 25 + incentives wasn’t terrible. 2.7 million subscribers and it would have been more than Big12 numbers. Pac-12 had 14.4 mil subs on Tv, so I assume they could have gotten 1/5th of that at some point in the first couple years. I’m not saying he did a fantastic job, but he certainly at least delivered options we could have taken and remained relevant with.I hope this is not true but if it is, how do you possibly hire a guy with no relevant experience into that role at that salary? Where do I find one of these jobs that I can suck at and still get paid? Seems like there’s a lot of these jobs out there, I’ve never found one though.$400M?
Probably the same way a fuggin tennis guy was qualified to be commish before him.I don't know how Luck would have done any better with the Presidents telling him what to do. That ESPN offer/counter offer was a joke that they pushed George to follow up on.
That being said my understanding of George, who lives in Las Vegas, was that he was involved with the Entertainment aspect of the MGM Properties. No disrespect to the him there because the MGM properties are vast and large. George was also involved with the Las Vegas Aces WNBA team. How that makes him the best qualified candidate to lead the Pac12 is beyond me.
That squares with the report that came out last week, and the PDF of the conference bylaws someone linked. And with the reported GOR conditions in the ACC contract.Talked with an OSU Regent who was holding court with 5-6 other Beaver fans after the Mariners game today.
He claims PAC-12 contract states you bolt, you forfeit your rights to a share of cash and properties immediately.
He claims there will be $400-425 Million left in the bank at the end of next year and the conference intends to keep that money and use it to recruit other teams to form a new look PAC (??)
“Hardball” was the word he kept using.
He also claims the conference owns all historical rights to all footage and other properties(?) and intends to “vigorously defend” their copyrights should any school try and use historical footage in their marketing.
Who knows? Guy seemed legit as did the other OSU boosters standing around him in he Diamond Club.
FWIW
What it's all been about is USC wanting a greater share than other schools, as mentioned in there. Other than offseason boredom, I'm not sure why the USC guys are spending time pissing on the conference's grave.Reading this makes me want to jump off a bridge

Pac-12 presidents, George Kliavkoff ignored widely available industry expertise
In July of 2022, after USC left for the #B1G, a consultant estimated a #Pac12 media deal could get $30M per school. He was ignored.trojanswire.usatoday.com
I'm not sure why the presidents not accepting deals proposed is the commissioner's fault. To be fair, he actually managed to negotiate better deals than the Big12 got, but we didn’t take it. I like the sounds of that! Not allowing any of the departing schools to EVER use anything from the PAC in promoting their schools. Most appropriate smackdown for them! No highlights on stadium big screens, nothing used in recruiting promotional material, nothing in development activities (meaning money raising), no use of any historical material at all! Excellent!Talked with an OSU Regent who was holding court with 5-6 other Beaver fans after the Mariners game today.

Well walk around Aurora .. your definition fits the bill …Yeah dude...sign me up.
There needs to be a course taught at WSU like How to Win friends and suck at your job or something.
I'm not sure why the presidents not accepting deals proposed is the commissioner's fault.
Hell no. Keep them in the rotation, let their fans keep watching and subscribing. And then keep the media money since they pulled out. Right now they’re pure revenue and no expense.Right now, I’d force the guy running all programming for all the Pac12 networks to show only Football in 60 of the remaining PAC4 teams beating the crap out of all the teams that bolted from now until they’re gone. Same for basketball, baseball etc etc
A tribute to the 2008 Washington Huskies would be a nice touch. “Season of Destiny”. I’d binge watch that shit…twice.Right now, I’d force the guy running all programming for all the Pac12 networks to show only Football in 60 of the remaining PAC4 teams beating the crap out of all the teams that bolted from now until they’re gone.
