Were Ken and Leach pretty tight when he was here? If so, I think offering him the DC position and hinting he’d make a helluva head coach when Leach moves on/retires would be an enticing offer.I’m praying for Ken Wilson. I think recruiting will be 70% of the battle for us for D.
I like the idea of bringing Wilson back as DC. It would be nice to steal a coach away from UO for a change....and I think he's a very good coach with much better recruiting connections than what we've had since he left.
Glad Cougar
I think Wilson could handle being a DC and coaching the linebackers. Right now, Roc is a co-DC and inside LB coach while Brock is ST & outside LB coach. There needs to be an assessment of whether that allocation of responsibilities is the best thing to do. I kind of like just having one guy responsible for coaching all linebackers whether that's a DC (Wilson) or simply a full time position coach.I do too. We’ll see. Do you have him coach a position? Or just game plan and recruit?
We need more than one upgrade in the staff’s recruiting ability.
SC doesn't have the talent they used to.If Pendergast cannot succeed with USC’s talent then I do not want him coaching in Pullman.

And if he does turn it around Leach would be looking for a new DC after next year. No thanks, let’s go the up and comer route or shoot for a great recruiter who might be ok at calling some plays. Can't do well with every advantage you could imagine, not known as a recruiter, likely to demand a lot of money, and who (reportedly) spurned Leach a few years ago when Grinch was hired. Great fit! (Not knocking the report that he's on the market, just saying there's almost no way in hell.)
