RB coach resigns?

Addiction is a tough master. The statement he released was well written. I hope he can stop the spiral.

Agree that we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto, when we hardly blink at the Wyoming RB coach immediately jumping to WSU at the start of Wyoming's spring football practices. I understand reality...I just don't like it much. Hard to see how college football will avoid some decline over the next decade as the audience becomes more disgusted.
I agree on the last minute coaching move. But also, the further back story on the new coach is that he just arrived from North Dakota. My bigger concern is that we still have an FCS coaching staff…and we know how that worked out last time.

We are FCS…

We are FCS…
Oh stop. According to CJR, we will be competing for CFP championships immediately.

That said, this incident is kind of a big deal IMHO. So you hire an FCS guy from South-freaking Dakota, he fills the staff and roster with the same. Preaches loyalty and a whole lot of other BS. Then 3 months in, his RB coach is driving Hwy 195 absolutely shit faced in his black cadillac? Speeding and swerving? Is it reasonable to assume that he was coming from Spokane and was totally shitfaced all the way from Spokane to "North of Colfax"? And WTF was he doing anyway? Out for a Sunday drive? .35, puking all over his jail cell? Geezus.

And he was another ND guy hired by CJR at SDSU and then WSU, with 2 DUI's under his belt already? WTF does that for the quality of the rest of our FCS level staff, most of them with similar pedigrees? More importantly, about CJR and his own jedgment? And I'm sorry, if you are getting multiple DUI's in freaking North and South Dakota, you must have been really shitfaced then too. Flat straight roads for miles and miles. Pass out and hit a scarecrow?

He can either make the transition or he can’t. He has a mish mash of who didnt get a better offer and the best of SDSU for a roster. He has arguably the weakest or second to weakest schedule ever in WSU history. He wants to take an offense that couldnt run block to a run based scheme. So we will see how it all goes.

Pres Schlitz didnt do Queen Anne any favors in the hiring process. So that must have been a fiasco behind closed doors. I’d love to know who the top 5 candidates were, who was contacted and passed, etc.

We know for sure Vigen, Rogers, and Mora were serious candidates. Had Dickert given up a little earlier, we’d probably had Eck. Other two interviews were Moore and Shephard.

Mora was seriously pissed he didn’t get the job, so I’m guessing it wasn’t as limited moneywise as we think

The part most accurate and undeniable here is that if Dickert had jumped a bit earlier, we would probably have had Eck. Both Eck and CJR were successful at the FCS level. Both will now have to prove what they can do at FBS. Time will tell.

The jump isnt as high as it once was. WSU isnt a Power Conference school any more. Prob somewhere between G5 and P4, with a who knows what the fck this is schedule. The new boss knows who could play in the FCS. We will find out if his evaluations were correct.

He has 0 West Coast relationships to lean on. Good coach? Sure. Good recruiter? No idea. Walking into schools to talk to prospects he’s been talking with for yrs? Nope. Bag full of $$$ to jump the line of other guys talking to the same kids? Also nope. We will find out pretty quick how fast he can develop kids. The days of redshirting and being a backup for 2 more years and them maybe breaking into the lineup are over. Kids arent gonna sit anywhere for long unless they’re paid well.

This year is clearly more difficult than last year, mostly because of all of the travelling. That said, Massey's computer model says that we are going to finish 8-4. The only game where we are likely to be a significant underdog is at Ole Miss.

I dunno about clearly more difficult. The travel is more difficult for sure. I’d have to look at how many P4, G5 and FCS games there are between the 2 schedules.

8-4 with a new coach, who knows what roster, havent seen yet schemes seems generous to me.

I looked at Massey's ratings and the average of our 2024 regular season FBS opponents was 83.5. For 2025, the average is 77.0. Not a huge difference. Last year we had six home games, five road games and one "neutral" site game. This year, we have six true road games. In my mind, the multiple cross country trips is going to be the challenge.

In Massey's current rating, we have 4 games where we should be heavy favorites (Idaho, SDSU, Toledo and La Tech), 2 games where we'll favored by more than three points (@ CSU and @ North Texas), 4 games that are tossups (@ Virginia, @ OSU, @ JMU and OSU), and two games where we will be 7+ point underdogs (UW and @ Ole Miss). If this team was more settled, this is the kind of season where I'd think that 11-1 was possible......

I'm still going with Mik's bold prediction that we will win between 1 and 9 games. :)

Kinda like last season where 11-1 was possible lol

I dunno how anyone can offer predictions with the churning rosters.

I see one more P4 game, less G5 games, 1 more FCS game and Oregon State twice. Prob a toss up between the two as to which is better. Neither are impressive. The travel this year is an issue. Doesnt the NFL odds makers give 1 touchdown per timezone?

ANY Power Conference program would look at this and be thinking they’ll be 10+ wins. We will find out what the roster and the staff has for talent.

Did Banks ever interview. There was some SM following that indicated he was a candidate. Unfortunately for him I think pole assassin and her monkey has cost him some opportunities.

Kind of odd that we haven't seen a mention of this incident on ESPN, etc. ESPN does have an article about the Georgia FB player arrested for speeding. Pretty much a weekly occurrence for the Bulldogs.

I guess that illustrates how far out of the limelight we are now. :(

Yet another reminder that College football is one big club and we’ve been kicked out, to the curb and we aren’t getting back in.

The only thing left to do is to continue staffing at p-12 levels until the money is gone and then blame others when it all implodes. I don’t see any other way for leadership to keep their jobs.
