Rutgers score prediction thread....

This should be interesting...

Rutgers 41
Cougs 20
Come on guys… Ye of little faith.

Cougs 42
Rutgers 38 (originally put 35)

I think this is going to be a scoring, boat race. They'll get it done on the run, we'll get it done in the air.

Cougs 41-Rutgers 28. Defense stiffens but special teams gives up one TD and Falk throws a pick for another.

Rutgers 55
WSU 0

Jersey kids may give up once you start winning but at least they'll show up for a fight. WSU won't even do that. They'd rather hide under their tent to stay out of the rain.

I don't think we have any in between left. We are either going to get our asses kicked, or really hit them out of the gates and roll them. Until the 2nd half when the RU grad assistants mention something like, let's run a simple dive or b gap lead, which will stun our defensive staff who will adjust towards something like prevent. And RU will score 42 unanswered.

I think Falk has heart and knows this is make or break time for the team and the fans. Last game was a wake up call mentally and physically. Saturday, he pulls out the stops and steps up and leads the Cougs to a 35-28 win.

I didn't see anything in game one that would support a strong WSU victory. Before the season started I thought we would put up a lot of points on everybody but struggle defensively against the better teams.

My original prediction in July was:

WSU 42
Rutgers 24

Now until I see some change I would have to go with Rutgers to win:
Rutgers 27
WSU 21

Man I hope my July prediction comes to pass.

Our only hope is to throw it better than they can run. This is what the air raid was meant to do. I don't have confidence in the outcome though.

Rutgers fan here.

This is a really tough game to predict the score, because the game could go any number of ways. Both teams have issues, to be sure. The key for a WSU win is clear though. If your boys can sustain passing drives by exposing our untested secondary early, the game will turn into a shoot out like last year. Then it is between two new QBs to see who can throw for more points. You guys have a Leach offense, we have a probable 1st round draft pick receiver. That is advantage WSU.

If you guys are slow and sloppy out of the gate, we will establish the running game, and with 3 competent backs, it will be tough for you to get a rhythm going on offense once that happens. I like your ability to come back in the game once you have to throw, but I don't think you will be able to score enough points if you get down by 3 scores early. You won't be able to score on every drive, and you may need to if we are running well.

Cougs 35
Wimpy New Jersey girly guys who fold at the first sign of adversity 32 :D

PS Hi Rutgers fans.

Looks like someone's begging for a little home invasion ;)

Really guys.. ANYTHING can happen here. R DB corps has been devastated. Leach should be smart enough to come up with a plan to attack it. As a Rutgers fan, my hope is our DC comes up with a plan to minimize it. As a result, I expect a lot of sacks and a lot of big plays in your favor. As for R offense, last week looked good. They can put up 40 if they play as well.

I think everything everyone is saying here is on the table. Our secondary is paper thin and inexperienced. Our top d-lineman isnt playing. Offense is still unsettled at QB. WSU has a dangerous offense but Falk is likely not 100% in his throwing shoulder (even if it was just a strain or a bruise you can usually expect at least a few weeks to get back to baseline) and your team may be having communication/ call read issues. I just can't get a read on this game.

Don't worry. Your DC will drop eight into pass coverage the entire game and rush three DLs (getting 5 sacks) and our offense will be once again befuddled about how to counter....even though we've seen that movie numerous times. Do I sound negative and frustrated? :D

Our only hope is that we score early and the usual wimpy New Jersey girly guys, who fold at the first sign of adversity, show their true character once again.

WSU 23, Rutgers 21.

Week 1 is Week 1. Bury it.

Rutgers is no slouch ... But IMO, Cougs have the talent to be a quality BCS-conference defense.

Can't get a read is about the smartest thing anyone could say until after the game.

Rutgers 41
Cougs 20

Cougs can't kick.
Cougs can't score in red zone.
Cougs can't field a punt.
Cougs can't run the ball against D1 schools.
Cougs couldn't defend a good HS read option team, let alone a power team like RU.
Cougs have to play at 9:30am local.

Hmmmmmm, this is a real tough one.

Rutgers 54
The Pussies - er, I'm sorry, Cougs is what they're called? 0

That ain't a joke or a misprint. This team of mental midgets uses every excuse in the book to rationalize their bad play, and between the travel and start time and blah blah blah, they will lay an egg the size of which we haven't seen since the U$C mercy game.

Scarlet Knights smell blood and get to feasting.

I just think RU will win. I thought WSU would win last year but RU came out on top. I don't think you will stop James, Hicks, Martin and Goodwin from running the ball and both of our QB's though with little experience seem pretty good. WSU could win if they exploit our young & depleted defensive backfield. Our best defensive player (Hamilton) is still out. He is a sure top draft pick. His father played several years for the Giants. I'll pick RU 38-24.

This as really good Karma that we feel this way.

Seriously, this the Jersey "Road to Nowhere".

It's amazing. One bad game and all the sudden the players we thought a week ago were studs, are now just piss poor rug rats that can't do anything right.
Can't do a thang!! Damnit, do you hear me 95'....now I hope you're listening!! Nowhere!!! Dam nit...that's where we're headed ....to nowhere!! Might as well enjoy it with a Talking Heads video.

Never claimed any of these kids were studs, or anything close to it. I was hoping they had turned the corner from making the same mistakes we've seen the last 8 years, but alas they have proven that they are the same ol Cougs, making the same mistakes and looking just as bad doing it.

BTW, I forgot to include: can't snap the ball

Man, oh man I sure was elated to see that bullsh!t rear its ugly head again!

You did watch the game, right? Outside of handing the ball off, which is not what our offense does, exactly which part of the game would you say went well? Was it the blocked kick? Or the missed kick then? The high snaps? Oh wait, the low snaps, right? Or maybe the missed receivers or the drops by every receiver then. I know, the muffed punt!

You're right, they're firing on all cylinders, ready to take on a smash mouth program 3000 miles away at 9:30 am.

Is it even necessary to mention the D?

Again, don't take me as making excuses. The players, the coaches, and I do put the fans in there… all have issues. But it was ONE game. All the things I saw in the off-season, all the things I saw when these players were being recruited, were positives! That hasn't changed just because of one game. I don't know what's going to happen in Rutgers but hopefully nothing NEAR what we saw last Saturday. If it is, that'll be a serious sign of something other than, "just a bad day" last Saturday. But as it stands, it was ONE game. I refuse to look into the future and project the PSU game onto the rest of the season.

Unfortunately we seem to be in midseason form already. But that is not a good thing
