Let’s not get giddy that Jimmy will bring his players and they are ready to go at this level. Let’s roll up the sleeves and get solid D1 guys that are being over looked.

The jump from FCS to G5/P4 is not one every kid can make. There may be a few guys that can make it, but a wholesale change? Prob not gonna work out.

There is prob more HS talent available for WSU now than ever before. Teams are taking more portal kids and it leaves more HS kids looking for offers. The problem is that WSU can’t get them to their senior year to really see their investment mature. WSU had a hard time getting most of its classes to 4-5 years before the portal and NIL. Now it has kids leaving before their first semester is done. Kids aren’t making it 2 full school years.

Wanted to share a nugget I saw on reddit from a former SDSU player who played there when Rogers was the LB coach:

"One of the most intense coaches I've ever met. Very high standards. I didn't play linebacker and honestly seeing that position group in practice I'm glad I didn't. He lives and breathes football. You would not believe the energy he would bring at 5am on a morning spring ball practice. He's very aggressive with play calling. When he took over as DC in 2019 I was told he ran more blitzes against Minnesota than we had ran the whole previous season combined (I don't think the stat was exaggerated either). Contrary to what I've been reading he does have a good personality and players like him. He will be able to recruit."

Obviously we will see if it translates to WSU, but at the minimum, I am hoping WSU can play some fundamental football and not get out-coached. I think recruiting will be a question mark still...especially if the entire staff is coming.

South Dakota State has a small but dedicated fanbase. I visited their fan board to see what their reaction was to Rogers leaving for WSU. There were over 80 posts on the topic, and all of them were highly complementary towards him. That surprised me. Usually 1/2 the posts are of the good riddance vain.

For $1.5m fundamental football and not being out coached is the barest of minimum standards.

DickTurd couldnt do that and he fleeced WSU for much more. Good riddance to him.

One of my former employees was an SDSU grad and they are definitely a very intense fanbase. The passionate hate of USD was easily as high as ours for the mutts.
