Semi Official, Unofficial WSU vs ASU game thread

Also the ULTIMATE BEST chance of Remy making that HORRIBLY BAD 3 POINT shot, is about 29% ISH at ultimate extreme best.

That means at best Remy takes, makes that bad 3 point shot, giving ASU the win. about 1 game out of 3 games at ultimate extreme best.

That means ay ultimate extreme worst WSU wins 3 out of 5 to 2 out of 3, WORST CASE.

That BAD STEP BACK, FALL BACK, 5 TO 10 FOOT BEHIND COLLEGE 3 POINT LINE, BEHIND EVEN NBA 3 POINT LINE, EXTREMELY LONG, BAD 3 POINT SHOT, A SHOT THAT REMY HAD MISSED 3,4.5 times, a shot that his end of OVER TIME, BAD, TIRED LEGS, LIKELY TO MISS, IS A SHOT THAT YOU WANT REMY TO TAKE LIKE HE DID.

REMY GOT LUCKY

THATS A SHOT THAT WANT REMY TO TAKE IF YOUR A COUG FAN.

ANYBODY WHO DOESNT GET THAT

IS AS MR SPOCK WOULD SAY

TOTALLY ILLOGICAL

No WAY do you go under in a zone. There's help middle, there's help wing. There's .4 seconds left. Martin isn't doing ANYTHING but shooting it there. There's zero risk of getting to the basket or midrange. None. Not enough time to drive and kick.

Rapp brain farted. That's not on Bamba. If you're 2-3, you don't bring the opposite guard unless you're going to trap. And if they're trapping - why the hell is Rapp going under/defending the high post?

If anything, there should have been a little ball pressure on Martin bringing it upcourt - instead he walks it up and steps into a 3 pointer. Stepping into an open 3 isn't 'lucky'.

But, no. Going under on that horn set is ridiculous.

From the Spokesman Review & the coach himself:

Cougars coach Kyle Smith lamented the defense played on the final shot, as guard Ryan Rapp slipped under the screen set by Graham, allowing Martin to get off a clean albeit deep look at the basket.

“We thought they’d have something drawn up man, or we thought they were just going to flatten it out with Remy with 10 seconds to go,” Smith said. “We really wanted to make someone else beat us and I don’t know, just miscommunication or something. (Rapp) just got on his heels or something. You can’t get on your heels against that guy, he’ll make you pay.”

I dont think you’ll see much of Rapp today unless Noah gets in big foul trouble.

Unless Bonton is able to go, I fully expect to see Rapp today. 3 games in 5 days makes it difficult for anyone to go an entire game without a break, and I suspect Noah will need a breather or two. The only other point guard available is Myles Warren, and I'd much rather have Rapp running the offense. Despite his defensive gaffe, he brings more cohesiveness to the offense than others. It would be nice if he could make a few more shots. I wonder if his knee discomfort is limiting....he had it wrapped up tightly on Saturday.

Ok, the GAME ANNOUNCERS were EXAGGERATING.

They said that Remy had STEPPED BACK, FALL BACK, FELL BACK INTO A 5 TO 10 FOOT BEHIND COLLEGE 3 POINT LINE, BEHIND EVEN NBA 3 POINT LINE, AND ABOUT 27 FOOT TO 30 FEET TO 33 FEET TO 37 FOOT 3 POINT SHOT.

They said that. I took them at their word. My bad I guess doing that.

After seeing the vid, its clear they were exaggerating as I can see that the shot wasnt as long, step back, fall back, crazy bad as they were saying.

Looking at the vid there are 1,2 WSU players that were pretty close to Remy at the time he took that shot.

Since the shot wasnt as bad; and since had players pretty close, semi very close to him at time of shot, that shot, he probably makes about 33% to 35% at best.

I get what your saying about a 2,3 Zone, and about not wanting Remy to beat you, and wanting Remy to drive, and getting the ball out of Remy's hands, and not going under the pick.

BUT Remy has missed that shot 3,4,5 times earlier during the game.

Remy should have bad, tired legs(key in missing that shot), at the end of OVER TIME.

WSU should be winning 3 games out of 5 at worst in that kind of situation.

So I still kind of want Remy to take that shot.

I guess that maybe the thought in making Remy drive is maybe a even less chance.

But with how bad the REFs had been, I could easily see Remy easily getting a foul call, and shooting freethrows, as a result of his drive.

Or shooting a midrange jumper.

Even with .4 or .5 or 1 second, or the time left, I can see Remy still either getting a midrange runner, jumper off, an or get a foul, freethrow shots, by driving, even with defensive help.

Heck with how bad the officiating was, Remy could just lower his head, bulldog drive his shoulder into 1,2,3 WSU players in front of him, committing a charging foul as time expires, and still have the bad REFs, still call it a blocking foul, and 2 freethrow shots for Remy.

I guess I still dont think Remy taking that shot was as bad for WSU as people think.

I still think that REMY got a little LUCKY

A bigger failure was, is letting Remy walk the ball up with no, not even a little, token, semi ball pressure.

Only reason to not to that, is if worried about REFs calling a foul.

But if worried about that, then should let Remy take the 3 point shot because a Remy drive could just as easily get a foul call as ball pressure on Remy bringing it up the court could produce a foul call.
