In all seriousness, it tells us the media at least feels we made a better hire than Cal. Should be a grind this year. Our lack of size is going to bite us all year long I fear, but it is realistic to hope for steady improvement as demonstrated by fewer turnovers, better shot selection and fewer points allowed.

They mentioned Cal lost some players to transfer but I do think the Smith hire was better than Fox. Other than Tony magically deciding to show up Smith looks like about as good a hire for us as we could expect. That said, he's a long play just like many of the kids he's going to sign. We need to give him the time he needs to build it. We need to remember what the Low's, Cowgill's, and Weaver's looked like as freshman.
