Just read this morning that I’m addition to Marion Beauchamp, Tari Eason is also transferring away from Cincinnati... Getting one would be amazing and in my mind a lock for the NCAA tournament... Both, would be historic. Here’s to the possibilities.. Is coach Smith “great recruiter”?

Noah Williams has been actively pitching both on twitter about joining him in Pullman. That can't hurt. I also have seen some talk that "local" people are pushing WSU at least a bit and over UW. Bill Elleby apparently is good friends with Beachamp's dad is one but supposedly others with looser connections to WSU as well.

Still would say we are longshots but either would be huge gets.

Some serious momentum recruiting in Seattle. If they can pull one of these guys off I’d almost say it’s nearing pipeline status.

We need to hope that UW keeps their coach for several more years.
Every 30 years WSU has a recruiting advantage due to an unpopular UW coach.

Jim Sweeney since Rogers Field burned down or perhaps lack of effort did not capitalize enough on Jim Owens requiring loyalty oaths from his black players. (Why if "Black Lives Matter" does that guy have a statue in front of the stadium and near the Sound Transit station? It was built in 2004. Gregoire and Inslee were UW students when that happened and in elective politics in 2004)

Just my humble opinion, but Sweeney actually did capitalize quite a bit on Jim Owens and his idiosyncrasies. Sweeney started in a huge hole and made up ground every year. He had built himself into the position that when UW actually had their coaching change, he almost swept the state for good talent. That class carried us most of the way through the 4 coaches in 4 years circus. My biggest WSU football "what if" revolves around Spider Gaines not catching the tipped ball (heck, it starts with us not throwing the interception when we should have put them away inside their 10). Had we won that '75 AC, what would Sweeney (who later took over a moribund Fresno State program and built it, turning down other opportunities and staying in Fresno for the rest of his career) have done over the next decade or two? Had Sweeney continued to capitalize on his recruiting base and had consecutive classes instead of the 4 coaches in 4 years drill, where would we have been by 1979? We will never know, but that AC loss was the sort of accident of history that creates its own fork in the road for a program.

With Arizona and WSU in his Top 3,4, and with Tari Eason having Virtual Meetings with WSU and Arizona, and with Arizona's, Miller's RECRUITING VIOLATIONS, AND PUNISHMENT, and with missing the NCAA tourny, and Pac 12 Tourny, because of that, and with Arizona, Millers likely to get more punishment, penalties, that will hinder their recruiting, program, their making post season tournaments, etc, because of all that combined, one would think that WSU has to be favored over Arizona, to get Tari Eason.

I hope that Shaw, Smith, Phelps, etc, are making it known to Tari Eason, just what kind of MESS Arizona is.

I think there is about a 43% to 53% to 63% that WSU gets Tari Eason.

Beauchamp's dad is kind of a load but Shaw and Smith aren't wet behind the years.

Beauchamp is a legit talent.

I don’t think he’s a load.. I think he is doing what he thinks is best for his son.. Everyone said the same about Ball but at the end of the day he created a lot publicity and financial opportunities for his sons.. May seem brash or overly involved, but his son is a talent and that doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Very fun hypothetical...both want to come - what's the starting lineup then?

If both want to come, then probably have to encourage Rapp to transfer to have another scholly, so that can get both, in addition to Rice, Roberts, Champ, Tari in same class, as them.

1. Noah
2 Beauchamp
3 Eason
4. Jackson
5. Abogidi
I see Eason as more of a 4, Noah off the ball, and Jackson as a 5. We would definitely have a lot of flexibility depending on matchups. We need someone to emerge at the point between Koulibaly, Rice, and I would assume Roberts would fit in there as well.

Additional players would need to move on if they were able to sign either. Could become another interesting offseason.

This. Rapp and Miller, one of them needs to leave the program, IF IF get one or both of Champ, Eason.

It needs to be one of those 2, as Noah, Efe, Dischon, Jeff Koulibaly, AJ, Rodman,Vova, Bamba, Carlos Rosario, are more valuable then Miller, Rapp.

Only problem with that scenario is someone has to go to the bench and it cannot be Beauchamp or Eason... I think this is the most athletic team we could have... I think the bigs would play most of the game opposite each other to Eason could slide to the 4... The other thing to remember is they are preparing for the NBA and their natural NBA positions are the 2 and the 3... That has to be part of the sell job I would think..

Are they "one and dones" or essentially "two and dones"?

Are they "one and dones" or essentially "two and dones"?

Well with Champ, he was trying to go pro, but changed his mind, reclassified to this year, probably because he is not ready yet for the NBA/Overseas ball, NBA G league, etc.

Because of that, my educated guess is that with a Duke type, he would probably be a ONE and Done, and with WSU a 2 and done, after his soph year.

Tari Eason is probably a 3,4 and done, NBA, NBA G League, Overseas, Last pick of 1st round to last pick of 2nd round, etc.

His stats are such(7.3 ppg, 1,2 blocks per game, about 5,6,7,8,9, etc rebounds per game, 1 steal per game, 1 assist per game, good defense(while nothing to snide at, that doesnt scream out One and Done, 2 and Done, 3 and Done, Lottery Pick of 1st round of NBA draft)

So 3 and done at best, for Tari Eason.

But thats just my logical, rational, reasonable, educated projection, extrapolation, prediction, educated guess at worst.

So Champ 2 and Done at best, 3 and Done at worst.

Tari is 3 and Done at best.

1. Noah/Jeff Koulibaly/Tyrell Roberts

2. Champ/Noah/Jefferson/Bamba

3. Tari/Champ/Noah/Bamba

4. Efe/Tari

5. Dischon Jackson/Efe/Vova

So AJ goes from NBA draft pick to not making your rotation because a guy who scored 7 pts a game in the AAC transfers in?

So AJ goes from NBA draft pick to not making your rotation because a guy who scored 7 pts a game in the AAC transfers in?

You do realize that Tari Eason is a semi MARQUEEE semi BIG TIME, HIGHLY RATED transfer, that has a lot of STARS(Like 4 or 5 of them), next to his name, and that is semi buried on CINCINNATI(USUALLY A SEMI BIG TIME COLLEGE BBALL PROGRAM THAT USUALLY GETS SOME TO A LOT OF NCAA TOURNY TEAMS(UNLESS THATS CHANGED RECENTLY)(AND A TEAM THAT GETS LOTS OF 4 STAR, 5 STAR BBALL RECRUITS), behind all of Cincinatti's 4 stars, and that HAS A LOT OF GOOD PROGRAMS TRYING TO GET HIM.

That doesnt happen if he is a CRAP SHET recruit with only 7 ppg as you pretty much implied.

I bet what happened is that he wasnt as good as the other 4 star upperclassmen at Cincinatti, and thus only got about 6 minutes to 19 minutes per game, in which he averaged 7 per game, IN LIMITED MINUTES, which is actually quite decent.

If he had had 30 to 35 minutes per game, he likely would have scored 15 to 20 per game.

Also while he was not as good as Cincinatti's other players, even Cincinatti's bench players are often way better then other programs, and would be starters at other programs like WSU, etc.

Also some colleges like Duke types, are so loaded with studs, that unless a freshmen is good enough to skip college and enter NBA as a highschool grad, that usually freshman on Duke types only get limited minutes, and only score about 7 per game, as FRESHMAN.

Many of them TRANSFER to get more playing time as starters on other P5, etc, programs.

Also FRESHMAN JRUE HOLIDAY only scored about 7,8,9 ppg for UCLA before entering NBA Draft, and was drafted in first round.

So Tari scored as much per game as UCLA's JRUE HOLIDAY.

Also when it comes to 6ft 8 in big men, scoring isnt everything. If it was Dennis Rodman and Bill Lambier wouldnt have played in college much less the NBA.

Tari is known for his rebounding, blocked shots. his defense, his ability to jump out of gym, his speed, athleticism, etc

He is better then AJ because he is LATERALLY QUICKER, JUMPS HIGHER, REBOUNDS BETTER, PLAYS BETTER DEFENSE, HAS BETTER ATHLETICISM, etc.

Oh and by the way I didnt say AJ was guaranteed to be drafted.

You misrepresent, and exxaggerate my words as always.

I said that because he turned down a PRO CONTRACT, and had offers by good programs that WSU beat out, and that because he AJ is one of the highest rated recruits in all of WSU history, that it was likely, probable that he is a Potential Future Potential NBA Prospect, that has a good chance to either be drafted last pick of 1st round at best, to last pick of 2nd round to signed undrafted free agent that could make it to and in the NBA, and or Play in NBA G G G league, an or play in Pros overseas.

I also said that Europe is like unto JC ball transfers, in that it sometimes takes a while to adjust.

I also pointed out that Motum also took awhile to adjust.

I guarantee you that the other good programs that are after Tari, are either gona start him, or have him be a 6th man, 7th man, insta production off bench(defense, rebounds, blocks), if they get him.

Also Arizona wants him. Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, etc, types dont go after bad transfer players.

I guarantee you that if Sean Miller of Arizona had Tari, and AJ, that Miller would likely either start Tari or have him be a 6th man or 7th man, OVER AJ.

AJ would still get 15 to 30 minutes a game as a bench player behind Tari, IF IF Tari comes to WSU.

If Tari does NOT come to WSU, AJ would of course move up the WSU Depth Charts.

Not sure what is going on in Cincinnati, they have always been a great basketball school but had a down year this year and now 6 of their players have entered the portal. I would love to have Tari join the Cougars but overhyping every player is not necessary. Neither is throwing current players out with the wash because we sign a new one.

Eason averaged 18 minutes per game at Cincy, was the 4th leading scorer, top rebounder, top shot blocker, started some games and was first guy off the bench in games he didn't start...all as a freshman. Bearcats had a challenging year due to COVID, missing an entire month of games. Still, they were playing well at the end of the year and got into the conference championship game vs. Houston. Their 2nd year coach, John Brannen, is probably experiencing the type of roster turnover a lot of new coaches go through. He recruited Eason, but I'm guessing most of the guys in the portal were Mick Cronin recruits.

Would love to get Eason. The couple of games I saw him play at Cincy, he looked to be a good defensive player and rebounder.

Glad Cougar

Not sure if you are referring to me, but Tari would be one of the highest rated recruits ever at WSU and Beauchamp would be the best and it’s not close. Kinda difficult to overhype him... We would immediately be top 1 or 2 team in the pac 12 with what we have. I’m not usually a predictor of what’s to come, but I would bet good money we make the tourney and have good opportunity to go far..

I have personally watched him play against Several players graduating from Washington this year and ranked highly by rivals and some playing in the NBA currently. He is every bit as good and fit right in.. Big time athlete, length at the 2, shooter, creates his own shots, tuff mental make up, can rebound, very unselfish... He could step right in and be a more athletic version of Elleby..

He wasn't referring to you. Based on our history, it is a longshot. But, with Coach Smith and his staff, who knows? Anything may happen.

Also to help put things into perspective.

Elleby was a 3.5 star(3 star by some recruiting services, 4 stars by others).

Elleby when he came out of highschool, altho good, great, he was nowhere near, even close to being as good as Champ was, is, when Champ came out of highschool last year.

Champ is a 4.5 star(4 stars by some recruiting services, and 5 stars by other recruiting services, and was ranked as the #35 player in the nation. And #5 at his position in the nation.

As you said he has played, done well vs NBA players, etc, at PRO AM's.

He also tried to turn pro and changed his mind, and reclassified to this year, probably because he is not ready for the NBA yet.

A College WSU freshman Elleby, if the freshman Elleby could have stepped into a time machine, and time traveled to Champ's college freshman year, wouldnt have been worthy to hold Champ's Jock Strap, as thats how good Champ is.

Thats not to say that Elleby wasnt awesome, great, out of highschool. He was awesome, great out of Highschool. Its just that Champ is even more awesome, out of highschool, then Elleby was, as thats how good Champ is.

If he doesnt goto WSU, he is a ONE AND DONE. If he goes to WSU, he is a 2 and done. And if he comes to WSU he has to start. And if he comes to WSU, WSU would likely win 21,22,23 wins, pre post season, goes 12-6 in Pac 12 play for a 3rd place finish, and wins 2,3,4 in Pac 12 tourny, and goes to either 2nd Round, Sweet 16 in NCAA tourny, or if gets snubbed by NCAA tourny, wins the NIT championship.

Thats how good Champ is.

And its not overhyping, and not exxaggerating.

Champ is that good, Period.

If he comes to WSU, he will be the best, most highest rated recruit in WSU history, since STUART HOUSE(Rated as the best player in nation by Parade, and was a Parade, McDonalds, ALL AMERICAN recruit.

Only Stuart House is higher rated then Champ.

I’m expecting a 20 win season next year already add one or both of these two and that prediction could rise considerably.

I think its about 50/50 that WSU gets 1 of the 2, either Tari or Champ.

I think its only about 13% to 23% that WSU gets both of them.

I certainly helps that Elleby's Father knows Champ's Father, and that Noah has been pitching, Nagging Champ to join him at WSU.

Also it certainly helps that Smith has had a lot of virtual meetings with Tari, and that Arizona is a MESS.

I think that those things is why there is about a 50/50 WSU gets at least one of them.

But reason why 50/50, is that never know. There are logical reasons why Champ or Tari could, would, should goto WSU, but that doesnt always get followed.

We'll see if WSU gets 1 or both of them.

Would be a EPIC get, if WSU got 1 of them, and best get ever, if WSU got both of them

Article on Eason. Discusses us, UW, Pepperdine, and Marquette.

According to this copy, pasted portion of above article, Eason had said better things about WSU, then Marquette, UW, Arizona, who are the key competitors for Eason.

Copy pasted:

The first program I typed in there was Marquette. Tari Eason told Stockrisers.com that he’s had communication with Marquette’s new head coach and former Texas head man, Shaka Smart. Justin Gainey was recruiting Eason after his name hit the portal and then the Golden Eagles faced a coaching change which landed Smart in Milwaukee.

Next up you have the West Coast schools. I asked him for quick thoughts on Wazzu, Pepperdine, and Washington. He said the following:

Washington: “UW would be a big one too just because it would mean going back out there to Seattle if I opted to go there and I also have a good relationship with Will Conroy.”

Washington State: “My guy Noah [Williams] goes there and I also enjoy the way that they play and have a pretty longstanding relationship with the coaches.”

Pepperdine: “Pepperdine is a really nice place. Coach Romar obviously has had a lot of success with guys and the league in the past as well as his relationship with my coaches, which is very good.”

Arizona’s Sean Miller was expected to complete a virtual meeting with Eason at some point but he has yet to begin the virtual meeting process as he is in the process of going back home after entering the transfer portal. I expect more programs to try and enter the mix as Eason is a major upside forward who didn’t even touch the surface yet.

According to this specific part:

Washington State: “My guy Noah [Williams] goes there and I also enjoy the way that they play and have a pretty longstanding relationship with the coaches.”

According to that, Eason's friend is Noah, and he likes WSU and WSU's style of play, and coaching, and has a VERY LONG relationship with the WSU coaches.

Add to that, Noah nagging him Eason to join him at WSU, and how UW, Arizona are messes, and WSU and Marquette, have to be considered the favorites, frontrunners, with WSU being the favorite, altho Shaka Smart and Marquette being a worrisome challenge to WSU getting Eason, as Eason could easily go to Marquette instead, if he changes his mind, etc.
