This is for the unofficial Knothole Gang. Mason is a 4 star WR/CB who recently decommited from USC. I believe that he is the 6th 4star to commit to the cougs For more in depth coverage go to the pay board

Thanks. Haha.

This kid is going to be Bumpus II. I don't know if he will start at WR this year, but he certainly might start as our punt returner, a la Bumpus in his Freshman year.

I hope so. I don't think we've taken a kick to the house since the regan administration.

Last kick return I can remember was Sammy Moore against Colorado in 2003, last punt return I think was Bumpus against Nevada in 2005.

In football parlance this guy is a gamer.. He seems to run faster than his advertised 40 time. I believe that he wants to play WR a la Reggie Bush. He may end up being better at CB.

Does anyone know if this is true? Moore in '03 and Bumpus on PR in '05?

If so, that is plum pathetic. A decade or more between ST touchdowns?

That would be a scandal; call it Return-Gate.

The Bumpus Return against Nevada is the last punt return me and my friends could recall when we had this same conversation during the season. As for a kickoff return, I cant think of a more recent one than 2003, which is amazing.
That Sammy Moore return was before Brink ever threw a pass for us, or Dick Bennett ever coached a game for us. That is a long time.
How many returns have gone against us in that time?

the sad fact is we've rarely gotten a return on a kickoff past the 30 yard line in many many years

Bumpus had 3 punts returned for TD's his first 2 his freshman year against Oregon and ASU, his last was Neveda in his sophomore year.

Heck, just during the Wulff era, we were getting about 9 kickoff returns per game. You would think we would have housed at least one due to the sheer volume of opportunities.
