If larger d-linemen aren't signed in February, one would have to assume that Tyler Garay-Harris and Cosmas Kwete, currently listed as defensive end recruits, will grow into interior d-linemen. They might have to grow in a hurry. Next year's interior d-line will include Lamonte McDougle, Jesus Echevarria, Dallas Hobbs, Misiona Aiolupotea-Pei, Will Rodgers, and Ahmir Crowder. Only McDougle and Echevarria tip the scales at 300 pounds. Leach today mentioned the possibility that "transfers" could take some of the remaining schollies. It's pretty clear that Nassir Sims' offer was withdrawn, so the staff might have lined someone up for that one. But what about replacing Denton, who flipped to USC? Perhaps the returnees have made such progress in the weight room that the staff isn't worried about 2019. Word is that McDougle is outstanding.

Until he’s not or gets hurt. Just need more bodies. Are any PWO DL?

Brennan Jackson has the frame as well, 6'5" 235 as a freshman.

In Leach’s press conference he said they had 3 more to give The math doesn’t work with the 2 greyshirys and 3 that didn’t sign.

Wasn’t he 235 last year.

I guess I should have said he's 235 as a freshman this year. From the 2018 class, same as Borghi, but he redshirted. I'm sure he's heaver now than he was at the beginning of the season, weights and chow.

Could be wrong but I thought he got hurt. Maybe an acl but could be remembering someone else.

Unconfirmed rumor is that Echavarria tore his ACL recently and won't be back until fall. This is a different injury from the one he got in October.

Torn egos (Lolohea) and torn ACLs. WSU can't get a break when it comes to the DT position. And it appears there are no decent JC prospects out there (wait, that sounds almost Wulffian).

They offered a 6-5 #280 PWO from Oregon yesterday.

Name?
Speaking of d-tackle recruiting, the mutts cleaned up in Hawaii, and is Bandes from the same high school in Pittsburg, Ca., as Denton? That guy is a load and rated much, much higher than Denton. The mutt defense, which added at least three DTs a year ago, looks like it will be stout for years to come.

Its difficult to not be envious about the mutt dline.
Do you think our choosy, athletic approach to dline recruiting is too limited? If, and that is a big if, more teams go with a power run game, we could be in for a mismatch.

The only team that was consistently successful was the UW, and the field conditions benefited the power formation they used. People forget the trouble the very athletic mutt d-lineand back seven had in 1992.

I am not so sure it is about being choosy, but instead more about the fact that there are very few high-level prospects that have the size, speed, and strength to play that position...and we can't get enough of them. The top 3 teams are loaded with these guys...two and three deep.
