that Oregon State is literally kicking WSU's ass in recruiting right now? Roberson is expressing greater interest in the beavs, as is Judson, the stout athlete from Florida. Isaiah Hodgins and Jamire Calvin, who once were two key WSU targets, appear headed to Corvallis. George Moore, a JC OLM once committed to WSU, is considering OSU. They beat us out for LB David Morris as well, and have brought in a JC d-tackle (Craig Evans, 6-3, 305/Arizona Western) that we definitely could use.
It's as if Falk's announcement he'll return has had no effect, other than Seattle Times columnist Matt Calkin's very positive piece that it boosts the standing of the Washington schools in the Pac-12 north (Calkins noted how Falk directed WSU to several scoring opportunities in the AC that would have considerably tightened the game).

I see Roberson going to West Virginia.Ditto for juco WR recruit Isiaah Zico." Papa joe " is the gift which keeps giving and giving. Anthony Pandy.LB, is scheduled to visit on 1 /20 and WSU looked to be the odds on favorite. Now within the last week,Oregon has expressed an interest in Pandy and it looks like he will visit them on 1/27 ditto for another LB recruit from Hawaii, There are rumors that Oregon may try and poach another Defensive commit from the cougs.I wonder what got Oregon on their trails? The coug staff needs to hit the road hard to undo some damage and shore up some committed recruits. it looks like OSU is just waiting for the cougs to offer and then they jump in and immediately offer the recruit. Falk is not s big an attraction as coug fans believe, he looked mediocre in the last three big games and i am sure WR recruits took note of that. I hope i am wrong and the cougs can finish with a rush.

While it's true that Marks and Lewis dropped a couple TD passes in the Colorado game, Falk completed only 57 percent of his passes, threw for only 5 TDs, and averaged 286 yards in those last three games. I still believe the loss of Cracraft was a critical factor, but those three defenses were the best we'd seen all year. The results do not bode well for 2017 when we have to play Utah and USC.

i agree,Cracraft was a far bigger loss than i thought when he was injured. One hopes that Leach and Falk learned from those three games. One that the cougs need to use their faster receivers and they need to take shots downfield to loosen up the defense. Two, that the cougs run the ball a bit more. One also hopes that Falk learns to progress thru his reads and throw the ball quicker or just throw it out of bounds to avoid a big loss or a big hit.

Seems like a lot of the time the backs would flare out wide and Gabe or whoever would drag across 5 yards downfield.. How about the back(s) stay in, block if needed, then find space in the middle? Then the WR can get downfield?

How does that explain why several of these WR recruits are looking at OSU instead of WSU? Are the OSU quarterbacks a big attraction to these receivers?

Glad Cougar

Glad, the only thing that makes sense to me with regard to WR recruits is that the new staff must really be dissing the WR's that they inherited. Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall and hear the OSU coach tell the WR recruit that he has a real shot at immediate playing time, because the existing WR's on the roster are all so weak. Bet that will be a big morale booster when the stories get back to the upper classmen (and they will..that kind of thing does not go un-repeated).

I do hope that Falk and Hilinksy spend a ton of time watching film on the final three games this year, because while not all defenses have the personnel to do it, they also showed exactly how to defend our offense as it stands now. Given the amount of latitude quarterbacks get under Leach to change plays, maybe there will be a few remedies, including a way to get somebody deep now and again. Martin and Lewis, for example, aren't burners but they aren't slow either. If the safeties are up, then find ways to attack them. Or put the bigger young guys (Patmon, Johnson-Mack) in one on one situations against a corner and put the ball up. Falk may not have a rifle arm, but when he's on he's got serious touch. Use that, ala Jason Gesser.

If anyone knows why they are picking OSU over the cougs, let the coaches know.It seems like posters are defensive over Falks performances . His QB ratings were really down over the last 3 games. The Air Raid looked underwhelming.and perspective WR s may not have been overly impressed. The Pokemon scramble was easy to defend in those games. It was not a red hot explosive offense as billed, Whatever the reason ,leach needs to rectify it if the top rated recruits are to pick WSU,Is this a criticism of Leach?,no, just a perspective of the current problems in recruiting.I am sure others have their own opinions.Leach s teams have a history of bouncing back against teams which made them look bad,. Will the 2017 edition be able to do that? Only time will tell.

Oregon State doesn't appear to have a quality D1 QB on roster and or recruited. Also Anderson's oline recruiting has been weak in the past and last I checked only has 3 committed so far. Also they already have 11 DB/WR committed so how many more can they take ? It looks to me like Anderson will fail because he takes too many skill guys and not enough linemen.

I agree. Coaches often go about that backwards. They go for the skill players first and lineman second. The recruiting services also get hung up on skill players.

Luke performances over the last three games were still better than the best performances of OSU. I doubt the last three games had much to do with anything. 16-17 year old's don't tend to look at it that close. Besides, coaches are selling a recruit that they are good enough to beat the DB when the other WR didn't.
