IIRC,the reasoning for stadium expansion from Biggs, Tron and Yaki was that perception matters to:
Not saying your wrong 425; I wholeheartedly agree that adding even 10,000 seats is a risk considering everything that's happened in 2020.
- recruits
- sponsors
- stadium naming rights opportunists
- fans who want upgraded season tickets
- image-concious TV executives
- future WSU students, most of whom reside in one of the fastest-growing regions of the country
- others
Just pointing out that there are a number of posters on this board (and other Cougar sites) who have repeatedly called for expanding Martin Stadium.
I get the rationale. It's just not a persuasive one.
I could see (i) expanding the north side to add an additional set of suites and/or club seating, and/or (ii) filling out the bowl, largely for optics reasons, on the east side. The latter would be easier and cheaper, especially with the long-term plan calling for no traffic through Stadium Way and making it a pedestrian area. Something that takes the stadium up to 40,000 or so.
I think that's where we ultimately *could* top it out if acting reasonably. Even that is unlikely anytime soon, though, to say the least.
(I see this is pretty much exactly what Flat is writing, and agree.)
