That is starting to be a thing, and if some of the bigger allegations have any validity, they'll be in real trouble.

let me get this straight... you're outraged because a problem player was having difficulty finding his way with a new coaching staff he didn't sign up for?

Not even moderately. But the one where the head trainer wasn't licensed, or where the kid says they performed surgery he didn't consent to- those are actual issues, not "mean coach is tough" issues.

Where do you get outrage? Man...

If surgery was performed on an unwilling patient, without patient authorization, where is the arrest report?

The article says his parents were upset over playing time.

Do you find it odd that this 'story' makes front page news the very Same day Chicago gets downgraded to Junk status triggering a $2 Billion cash payment on their debt, they do not have... and not a single word is mentioned about that in the same newspaper?

Kid is going to be rich beyond his wildest dreams and people are going to jail... if only this were true.

No. I don't see how this is an Issue... at all. I do however see how this is a fake politically charged diversion, do you?

Only when its (not) happening here, right? Could be fake. More guys are lining up, though, so the coach better hope so- I don't think the Illini kid is sending the AD an "I didn't mean it" text.

It's odd that the surgeon would perform the surgery without a consent from the patient.

Reading the thing plays like he was sold one bill of goods by the team doctor and coach, and it wound up being mostly the side effects and misery part that was the actual outcome. Unfortunate, but not a crime by any stretch. I'd imagine Illinois doesn't want that as the public face of their athletic treatment, either. That said, now you have people at Illinois and Toledo piling on.

Sadly, I don't find anything done by the media to obfuscate certain negative information odd- it's become a bit expected. I don't think this kid specifically was even mildly concerned about Chicago's bond status, though.

... just like Leach did with Marquess Wilson, right?
When the Illinois kid sends in his "I made it up" text, or they find Leach's unlicensed training staff, they'll be similar.

Right now, all they have in common is a kid complaining about it being too hard. Once they have documented admission that he lied, like WSU with Wilson, then they'll be the same.

The average reader would have no clue what downgrading to junk status means, and how it might impact them. So this story is much more juicy. This coach makes Leach look like a saint.

This story is an attack on football in Chicago, home of the NLRB. It's being pushed by the players union. It's easy to research If one is to dig a little deeper.

You would think the Chicago Tribune might notice their City is on a collision course with bankruptcy... unless they magically find $2 billion they don't have.

Interesting… So this I can get into. Since you've already researched apparently, have any links?

I hope Beckman's plan isn't to tell everyone that he's being put up by a government scam with the media to hide Chicago's financial woes.

That... that's not going to work.

Thanks for the football talk fro.

The only thing different between the WSU situation and the Illinois situation is that the disgruntled playerwasn't recruited by Wulff this time.
That and the part where this guy gets fired in a week, but we'll see, I guess.

Beckman was just fired today.
Correct. And, according to the investigation, in was neither a) like Leach-Wilson or b) a ploy to draw attention away from Chicago's economic struggles, as some insisted.

Yup. No need for conspiracy theories here. Looks to me that Beckman got caught with his pants down and Illinois saw a chance to remove him for cause thereby eliminating the need for an expensive buy out.

So you're saying Chinook was off base and defending Beckman for no reason? Imagine that.

People are often sued over medical malpractice, but arrests generally do not occur unless a specific criminal statute has been violated. So, which one has been violated?
