Unable to secure a coach in the timeframe that the portal is open. Dickert had public flights scheduled last Tuesday night to Wake Forest. So she’s had 10 days since it was obvious he was leaving. Search firm help too. Looks like Mora and Helton each signed extensions and got raises, presumably because we interviewed 1, but likely both. Not that I want either of those coaches but seems likely she may have at minimum given them leverage through interviews. She didn’t do a great job with the bball coach hire as far as publicity goes, and now appears to be unable to seal any deal for a FB coach. Gross.

You have a caretaker AD and a lame-duck in-retirement-mode university president going to make one of the most important hires in the history of WSU and WSU football...what could possibly go wrong? /s

Don't forget Teresa Gould. She's still out there "swinging for the fences".

How should I handle the "I told you so" going forward? Add a footer to my profile? Change my avatar? Although I sort of enjoy typing it out each time. I'm kind of a prick that way.

Hope the presidential search committee gets off their asses and finds us a new President pretty quick. Schulz will go down in history as one of, if not THE worst, President in WSU history. Academic prowess? Falling. Enrollment? Falling. Athletics? Well duh.

Not sure why you would want to sell us to permanent MWC. No clue what the hurry is and why you need the reverse merger. That sets our future in stone .

You are right. The Pac2/7 is in a great spot right now. The sky is the limit. P5 here we come. Pray tell who is our 8th member going to be? Absolutely no hurry whatsoever.

Who cares who is number 8? They control the conference . They get to 8 they are in line for a spot for the playoffs. And it coukd entice a big 12 merger or a tram like ucla to come back.

Been staying away from this board while you Cougars deal with the trauma of losing Dickert and Mateer and 28 players in the portal. It's no fun as we Beavers went through this exact same thing a year ago.

The best place of all the places online to find out what's going on with PAC-12 expansion and the media deal is this thread:

***** Utah State Message Board Thread *****

This beats anything Canzano or Wilner have published in the last month.

Read in particular all the posts by "aggies22". Note the way other Utah State fans respond to aggies22. Apparently aggies22 has really good connections within the Utah State athletic department and is willing to share some of what he/she knows.

This Utah State thread has already been discussed on Beaver boards and Reddit PAC-12 a week ago. Remember: this is the internet, and you know what that means.

Ed - who is "they"? BSU and Gonzaga? And "entice a Big-12 merger"? Seriously? UCLA coming back? Seriously? A spot in the playoffs? You mean BSU, right?

And tell me more. What will our 5 game OOC schedule look like? A lot like 2025 I'd imagine. And, I would suspect that the growing crowd of media deal suitors might care who we get for team #8.

Who cares who number 8 is? If you give the Mountain West control, it locks in the future of WSU and OSU.

You act like reversing the decision will solve problems, but it won’t.

And yes, I believe several former Pac-12 teams will have buyer's remorse.

Do you really think Washington, UCLA, or USC believe they’ll make a playoff berth or win a Big Ten title? Traveling to Rutgers for a Friday night game is what they signed up for?

Meanwhile, in five years, UW will be $100 million behind in funding compared to other Big Ten schools. Their travel schedule will be brutal.

Thanks Dave. I read through the entire thread, although they almost lost me with the $20-27M media deal banter. And I don't get the Basketball media part. But I'm not going there due to lack of knowledge and interest. And anything beats the clickbait that Canzano and Wilner spew out. They are like broken watches. Correct twice a day. Twice a year in their cases.

OK, I'll keep biting. Then I'm going to watch some football. Let me first try to interpret your typo-filled post. Learn to spell buddy.
It is irrelevant who the Pac brings in for Team #8? Ok, let's go with that.
Explain these "problems" that exist, and how the Pac-7 will solve them?
So you are saying that multiple Pac traitors, namely USC, UCLA and Washington, are going to have buyers remorse and want to come back? Good that you left out the 4 corner schools. They are doing just fine in the Big-12. Especially ASU. And if Washington falls behind the B1G schools in funding, they will of course jump back to the Pac and our $10M(?) media deal? Obviously. Such a no-brainer.

It wasn't a typo; it was "vision"... I posted from my phone while watching the Miami game, and I believe the typos have since been fixed.

I believe you get to 8 no matter what. You control the Pac-8 conference. Add Idaho if you need to.

Then, wait it out. More change will come. Yes, I believe when they start sending non-revenue sports to College Park, Maryland, State College, PA, Rutgers, etc., fan bases will already be frustrated. UW and Oregon thought they would get preferred time slots for TV. Those are reserved for the big three, and that won’t change, ever.

So, yeah, there will be some shuffling in the next five years.

Do you know the records of visiting teams traveling two time zones or more? I think they were 2-11. Think about that... and see how much sense it makes for West Coast teams to travel east.

Not defending McCoy, but nobody is beating down the door to get an interview with us. When you see that it's a 2-team league with an experation date similiar to a gallon of milk, you get second thoughts about uprooting your family and starting over again as a coach. Throw in a permanent black cloud over WSU that consists of constant transfer portal loses and limited NIL funds and why would you put yourself and your family through constant rebuilding processes?

If the pick is Rogers, I'm okay with that (other than he's a defensive coach and we're historically an offensive-oriented team). He'll be playing the classic recruiting plan: Under-recruited freshman, 27-year old lineman on their 8th year of elegibility and QBs from nowhere high schools who threw for 10,000 yards and 99 TDs. It's been that way for awhile now here...it's not going to change based upon who we hire as the HC.

Sorry, but for 1.6million/yr that Rogers is receiving I can guarantee there are guys beating the door down. Yeah no one from a power 4 HC spot and not a ton of OC DC from those same top 30 schools, but yes people want this job.

Refer to the "Jimmy Rogers" thread for the exhaustive analysis and comments. all brilliant, from the Mighty Loyal One.

Is that on the Rivals Board?

Not a fan of women leading athletic departments or colleges/universities.

They're too soft and feelings based.

Sheesh. Should have started my own thread of PAC-12 expansion and the media contract. In any event, if you're looking to disillusion yourself with nothing but optimism and good news, then this is the next thing making its rounds on the PAC-12 boards. I don't know who this guy is or what kind of credibility he has, but have fun:

Some dude with the "Aztecs Wrap-Up Show"

Oh, boy. This is just evil. Way too much optimism about the future of the PAC-12 and the upcoming media contract. Sorry.

Look at the posts by "1IvyDog" on a Fresno State forum. This quote by 1IvyDog certainly caught my eye:

>> Not sure but my contact is at a network that is no longer in the mix because the cost is to rich for their liking. So it looks really good for the PAC. He is surprised how the PAC is keeping everything under wraps. It is a testemant how all the teams involved have kept this quiet.

Fresno State thread on PAC-12

In the Fresno State thread is a link to a Sports Illustrated article that's a good read, too. Teresa Gould quote:

>> Gould said the three most-watched games on The CW this season all featured Pac-12 teams, including a Nov. 23 matchup between Oregon State and Washington State that drew 695,000 viewers. Five of the six highest-rated games on The CW involved Oregon State or Washington State, Gould said.

>> “By every measurement imaginable, year one of the Pac-12 relationship with the CW surpassed all expectations,” Gould said. “We are very, very pleased with the distribution, the number of eyeballs that tuned in. I think it reinforces what we already knew, which is people still really care about the Pac-12 brand.”

Everyone's favorite swimsuit magazine

Remember.... this is the internet!!! We'll see what happens with the PAC-12 when it finally happens.

Yeah - this is dated (the article especially, dated Dec. 16 and referring to a previous interview with Gould).

“We’re really looking for what I call a transformational partnership,” she (Gould) said. “I don’t want this media rights partnership to be transactional. I want a transformational partner or partners that will jump in with us and help us reimagine and rebuild the Pac-12.”

Transformational, reimagined, rebuilt. Not transactional. Ok Teresa, whatever you say. Don't forget that "transactional" implies money.

Body bagging every marquee game to the alphabet networks isn't going to cut it long term.

CW needs to get the non-con P4 games to get eyes on the tvs or its always going to be sub 1MM viewers - the product simply isn't the same.

If Dr. Schultz, Gould and the OSU president poach UNLV and its market for the 8th football school, wouldn't that help The CW and whatever other networks are chosen for the New Pac?
