There are plenty, including our own, but I will be keeping track of a couple in particular:

mutts at Penn State - no explanation or who to root for needed

Colorado at Texas Tech - same as above, but go Red Raiders

I'm torn between rooting for teams that improve our very slim chance at the playoff...which often means rooting for teams i hate...or simply rooting for teams to lose that are ahead of us in the polls with the endgame being the COUGS achieve the highest possible end-of-season ranking.

Example: BYU and ND. I guess in the first scenario we need them to win out. But in the second scenario those are 2 teams we could pass in the polls with the hope to finish in the top 15. That's all I have to say about that

Bearing in mind the Cougs definitely have a Leach feel to them, in that they might lose to or beat anyone. Indiana will likely lose to Michigan and OSU, Texas A&M will likely lose to Texas, LSU to Bama, Ole Miss to Georgia, Iowa State to K State, Pitt to Clemson and Louisville. So with that and with the inevitable shocker or two, we could be right there at the end. But in end game terms, is it better for a 11-1 Cougs to be on the outside looking in, or be the 12th seed. Short term the playoffs are in our best interest. But long term it may not be. If we get in the Committee can say the system works well, but if we are kept out in favor of couple of three loss teams, there will be a bit of a stink, it may result more favorable selection criteria moving forward, i.e. the Cinderella selection.

I think Indiana is going to beat Michigan by 14+. It's infinitely better for WSU to make the playoff. The amount of generated fan excitement, collective and CAF donations, merchandise, etc. will be off the charts compared to a bowl game. Remember that whatever bowl game we get invited to, we'll likely have several key opt outs, possibly including our head coach.

Frankly, it doesn't matter. College athletics is now full-blown "phony-baloney".

WSU could go 11-1 and the committee will find a way to place them no higher than 13. It will not matter, a 3 or 4-loss SEC team will get in at 12 before WSU sniffs a playoff spot.

Alabama vs LSU this week will give us a shot to get above the Tigers if they lose.

ASU vs KSU next week is an intriguing game. The Sun Devils were supposed to suck but they haven't. KSU is ripe for a drop. They've had some close calls and it bit them last week. I root for KSU (after the Cougs) but I won't be sad if we get above them in the CFP rankings.

Clemson vs Pitt next week is a game where we should be rooting for Clemson.
