Nice of you to think about me, Stretch. The Benevolent and Even-handed Loyal one would be willing to take on moderator duties. Problem is getting ahold of the Rivals people. They are a mystical bunch. I have reached out but haven't gotten a response yet. And I don't know what can be done about the Spam at the site level. Other Rivals sites appear to be getting spam slammed (maybe a good thing), so I think it needs to be a Rivals-level issue to resolve.

At this point I think we can be VERY leery of things the FBI puts out about Trump. This organization has become very politicized and has lost a lot of trust from the American public. FBI lied to FISA judges to go after Trump. FBI agents actively worked to undermine Trump (Strjuck and Page). FBI unable to find the person that brought cocaine into the heavily secured White House. FBI unable to find out who leaked the Dobbs decision at the Supreme Court. FBI was able to find hundreds of people from Jan 6 from grainy video and cell phone records. Starting to see a pattern here?

Didn't Ronnie Jackson (former presidential physician for multiple presidents) release a statement stating that he had reviewed the hospital records and he confirms that the wound was from a bullet, as is stated on their records. Incidentally, he was an ER physician in battle zones (Iraq) and was/is familiar with bullet wounds. BTW, I am not sure why the Biden team won't release his mental health records.

I think some folks here and likely around the country are clinging to some conspiracy theories regarding the bullet and the wound. I am going to share what I think happened in this situation. There is a lag time that occurs between when you decide to do something and how quickly you can react to a chance in the situation. Examples.......

• A QB goes through his reads and decides to throw the ball to the 3rd read. Suddenly he sees the LB undercutting the route, but it is too late to stop his arm action that he is committed to.
• There was a shooting, think in LA, where a kid was shot by a cop. It was dark, and the kid had a gun, appeared threatening the cop. Cop decides to shoot, and is unable to stop the action as the kid tosses his weapon to the side, behind a fence. Quick change, no time to react.
• I imagine this has happened to every one of us here. You are surfing/searching the internet, and a page you have clicked on loads up. You assume after a time that the page has fully loaded, and decide to click on the primary web site in order to read the second article that they have listed there. So you start to click the mouse or touch your finger to the phone screen. But after you have decided to access that next page suddenly the screen jumps a bit as it loads further, and even though you see that, there isn't time to react and you are then directed to the 5th article instead of the 2nd. So you swear at the site that did that and go back and access the article that you wanted.

Thinking about how those things happen, let's apply that to the Trump rally situation. The guy is on the roof, has planned to shoot Trump, and has positioned himself to best accomplish his goal. He is prone, has aimed the rifle, keep in mind that he has iron sights instead of a scope, and is ready to go. He has a finger on the trigger, has obtained his target and concentrates on keeping steady. Brain then sends signal to pull the trigger, but exactly then Trump leans forward a bit while turning his head and then as the guy is in the process of firing Trumps head actually turns just a bit more. It is Trump's extremely good fortune that those actions occurred as the kid was starting to fire.

I would think it was also extremely good fortune for our country (notice I say OUR country, and not MY country) that Trump was not killed. I don't think things would have remained peaceful had that occurred, and it would have been very bad for the country.

Responding to multiple comments from above here -

Regarding spam - I don't really expect Rivals to do anything about it at all. These pages don't bring them any revenue at this point, the only reason they still exist is that they're also not a cost. If anyone does anything about it, it'll be because they feel like it...not because Rivals said so. And it'll only happen if it's zero cost. It's outrageous though - from my unscientific observation based on my recollection of the number of total pages of posts. I think there were about 380 pages of posts dating back years. There are now over 700 pages. So in 2 weeks, the spambots have created more posts than all of us have in almost a decade. Yay for technology.

Regarding the bullet - I think there's basically zero doubt that it was a bullet. There's a photo that shows a bullet contrail on a trajectory that makes sense. The linear position of the shooter and Trump make sense. Is it possible that it's a fragment or a ricochet? Sure...but again, based on the trajectory that doesn't seem likely. There's zero chance that it's glass, and it's certainly not from a broken teleprompter.

Timing - the kid was absolutely in the act of pulling the trigger when Trump turned his head, which may have saved his life. In addition to the reaction time, you have to add flight time. I haven't seen the exact specs of his weapon and ammo, but muzzle velocity for a .223 is somewhere near 3,000 fps, decelerating to about 2,500 by 200 yards. Flight time from ~130 yards is about 0.2 seconds, which isn't very damn much...but it's enough to turn your head. And, if you listen to the shots on video, there are the first couple (including the first shot which is likely the one that hit), followed by a pause and then several more wild shots when he realized he'd missed. Also consider while you're watching that video that the speed of sound is considerably slower than the speed of the bullet - about 1,100 fps - so the bullets arrived ahead of the sound of the shots.

Luck - I think it's well established that Trump was lucky. If he'd turned his head a second later, the bullet goes in the back of it. If the shooter had been a second later, maybe he adjusts to the right a hair. If there's a gust of wind from back of the stage, etc. One inch - maybe even less - was the difference between grazing his ear and having a new, high definition Zapruder film. I would also agree that if he'd been killed, there would have been violent reaction in certain circles, and possibly some reciprocal attacks. I'm a little surprised that hasn't happened anyway. His death would have been followed by riots, but I don't think would have degenerated into civil war, as I've seen some sources suggest. Doesn't mean we've dodged that though. I think if he'd been killed, his followers would have reacted, but without direction they wouldn't have fully committed. But, if he somehow loses the election, I can see him whipping them into enough of a frenzy to cross that line.

Regarding spam - I don't really expect Rivals to do anything about it at all. These pages don't bring them any revenue at this point, the only reason they still exist is that they're also not a cost. If anyone does anything about it, it'll be because they feel like it...not because Rivals said so. And it'll only happen if it's zero cost. It's outrageous though - from my unscientific observation based on my recollection of the number of total pages of posts. I think there were about 380 pages of posts dating back years. Regarding the bullet - I think there's basically zero doubt that it was a bullet. There's a photo that shows a bullet contrail on a trajectory that makes sense. The linear position of the shooter and Trump make sense. Is it possible that it's a fragment or a ricochet? Sure...but again, based on the trajectory that doesn't seem likely. There's zero chance that it's glass, and it's certainly not from a broken teleprompter.

Timing - the kid was absolutely in the act of pulling the trigger when Trump turned his head, which may have saved his life. In addition to the reaction time, you have to add flight time. I haven't seen the exact specs of his weapon and ammo, but muzzle velocity for a .223 is somewhere near 3,000 fps, decelerating to about 2,500 by 200 yards. Flight time from ~130 yards is about 0.2 seconds, which isn't very damn much...but it's enough to turn your head. And, if you listen to the shots on video, there are the first couple (including the first shot which is likely the one that hit), followed by a pause and then several more wild shots when he realized he'd missed. Also consider while you're watching that video that the speed of sound is considerably slower than the speed of the bullet - about 1,100 fps - so the bullets arrived ahead of the sound of the shots.

Luck - I think it's well established that Trump was lucky. If he'd turned his head a second later, the bullet goes in the back of it. If the shooter had been a second later, maybe he adjusts to the right a hair. If there's a gust of wind from back of the stage, etc. One inch - maybe even less - was the difference between grazing his ear and having a new, high definition Zapruder film. I would also agree that if he'd been killed, there would have been violent reaction in certain circles, and possibly some reciprocal attacks. I'm a little surprised that hasn't happened anyway. His death would have been followed by riots, but I don't think would have degenerated into civil war, as I've seen some sources suggest. Doesn't mean we've dodged that though. I think if he'd been killed, his followers would have reacted, but without direction they wouldn't have fully committed. But, if he somehow loses the election, I can see him whipping them into enough of a frenzy to cross that line.
