WBK Final: Cougs 57, Utah 48 (1st Rd, P12 Tourney) - Stats

Wasn't pretty offensively but did a good job shutting down Utah in the 2nd half. Listened to the Utah's coach post game. It was pretty apparent she did not like the way the game was called. Oh well.

Its a very special team, and not easy to beat a PAC12 team 3 times in a season. They are doing much better with the turnovers. Still struggling with scoring droughts almost every quarter, but then the magic happens. You really feel that they are still kind of in second gear, and at any point they could put together 4 quarters and shock the world. The one big problem is that to advance to the second round, the starters basically played the whole game, and that makes it tough for a long tournament run. But it definitely beats the alternative!

Yup, I think they will be ok for UA but anything past that will get tough for KL-W, Ula, and even CL-W. They have played a ton of minutes this year. Depth has been an issue the 2nd half of the year and we really miss Cherilyn Molina every single game.

We did get more even scoring today but we need hot CL-W, Ula, and Teder to have a shot tomorrow and the same kind of games from KL-W and Bella'. It seems like Teder has been really close (multiple rim outs on 3s). Hopefully it will help us early to have played a game on that floor.

Can't get in early foul trouble as well and Arizona makes it tough to stay away from cheap fouls with their quickness and flopping.

Think that they have secured the dance invite so anything else is just Gravy. Not having wasted a big offensive game I look for them to play UA close and hopefully the win

I like what I'm seeing from Bella. She is finishing better underneath, still rebounding well and defending a bit better. Her continued development is going to have huge ramifications for this team.

I thought Bella’s 3rd foul was a good block. Looked like she was on top of the ball and didn’t swing down. I didn’t see contact on her 4th foul. Might have been some anticipation there. Point being when she had to sit Utah made their run. UA’s not a bad matchup for her. Need her and CL-W to stay out of early foul trouble. KL-W as well assuming she gets McDonald. Maybe Tedder draws her?

This team is talented and from what I’ve seen fun to watch, but I have to admit I haven’t followed them as closely this year as I have in past. That being said are they really a shoe in to dance with a 12-10 record? Super happy if they are just uninformed and wondering.

ESPN's Creme has us an 11 seed in his latest Bracketology. Assuming they take 6 teams from the Pac 12 we would be #6 especially with CU losing to the UW last night. If they went on a run they might have had an outside shot. I guess they other possibility is a program like SC or UW (err, no chance) wins the Tournament to get the automatic bid.

I wouldn't say we are a shoe-in. A bunch of late losses put us firmly on the bubble but I think the resume is good enough to sneak in.

Yes, much better. She isn't rushing when she gets the ball down low now and I think that is a big reason she was turning the ball over during those few games.

I am also really impressed with Teder. Not just her scoring the other night...but her rebounding and defense, and her passing.

Teder really seems close to breaking out. Against Utah she had at least 2 3s rim out on her. Her shot is a bit flat which is fixable. The pass she made to CL-W on the runout was impressive (even if it might have been a walk?) and her defense has been good all year. When she was signed I expected more offense but didn't expect as good on defense. Plus now she's adding rebounding. She's only a soph. so key player moving forward.

Again admit I’m out of Women’s basketball loop but did we lose a Molina sister in the middle of the season, can’t believe I missed that😖

Cherilyn Molina hasn't played since the 2nd UCLA game. She had been playing really well but I remember noticing she didn't look quite right in the UCLA game. Ethridge was quoted as saying she was out for "personal reasons". At some point she was taken off the roster.

Big hit to a team without much depth. She's been missed.

She really was playing well and I don't think the team has played as well without her. She was incredibly fast and added depth to the guard rotation. I hadn't noticed that she was not on the roster anymore. Her sister is still on the team, so it is unlikely family issues back in Hawaii. Whatever it is, I wish her well.

I agree. Just a little more arc on her shot and those shots will fall.

I had no idea Molina wasn't on the roster anymore! That hurts!!
