Welcome to the new WazzuWatch.com.
As many of you know, Britton Ransford has been the publisher of this site for a while. However, life happens and Britton has embraced new challenges in his professional life, diminishing the amount of time he could devote to WazzuWatch.
Thus, Rivals asked me to jump aboard as publisher and I have enthusiastically agreed to take on the challenge. I have spent the last 11 years as a full-time reporter for GamecockCentral.com, the Rivals.com site for South Carolina. However, off and on, I have been a sports journalist for about a quarter century. In my position, I have covered and written extensively about a potpourri of sports, including football, and covered numerous major events such as the SEC Championship game, New Year’s Day Bowl games, the College World Series and NCAA Basketball Tournament.
In short, I’ve spent a lot of time around coaches and elite Division I athletes, and I feel I have a good grasp of how the world of major college sports works and operates.
In every way, this is a tremendous opportunity for me and my goal is to bring to you the same caliber of across-the board coverage I have provided on a full-time basis to GamecockCentral.com readers since 2004.
In addition to football and basketball recruiting, we will provide in-depth and comprehensive team coverage of Washington State football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball. Even the so-called Olympic sports won’t be ignored. Eager to see a certain sport receive more coverage from us? Tell us.
We realize Cougar athletics is your passion, and we’re ready, willing and able to fuel your appetite by bringing you insightful, informative and interesting (I refer to those as the three critical ‘I’s) content about the coaches and athletes representing the loyal Wazzu community.
I hope the WazzuWatch.com readers enjoy the results.
I have asked Britton to stay on as a contributor in football recruiting, which undoubtedly is his passion in this business, and happily he has graciously agreed. He will continue writing for the site at least once per week and, of course, offer coverage of any breaking commitments. So, you should expect Britton to still provide the same quality recruiting coverage he has always given you.
Besides Britton, supporting me in this grand endeavor is the outstanding people of Rivals.com, the oldest and largest recruiting network in the world.
To WazzuWatch subscribers that are new to the Rivals network, we say welcome.
To longtime WazzuWatch customers, we say thanks for sticking with us during this exciting change. We’re confident WazzuWatch will still be the place to go for the best coverage of Washington State athletics.
Let us know how we’re doing. We welcome your input and we want to hear from you. We want this site to be everything you desire for the very best WSU coverage anywhere, so let’s take this inspiring journey together!
