Cougs have shown that they can stack the box and hold their own. The danger is that they are young and tend to over-pursuit, so misdirection or a talented rb who can read the stretch play can give them fits.Former Cougar great Jim Michalczik has developed the best offensive line in the conference, bar none, and he didn't have the luxury of signing five OLs a year to do it. If these guys can run for 322 against USC, at more than 6 yards a pop, a team with a DL, heaven help the Cougars, a team that doesn't. Is there a worse match up for the Cougs. Power football versus a "smoke and mirrors" defense. It is pack the box and keep your fingers cross that Nolan channels some Garbers-like play. Cougs lose 35-14.
USC disrespected OSU by playing them straight up and paid. Stacking the box works well if your opponent is a one dimensional run team, or you have NFL calibre DBs, which we don't. It will come down to whether Nolan can beat us with his arm, because we have no choice but to stack the box. Unfortunately, Nolan leads the conference with a PER of 169.3, where Garbers is #8 with a PER of 132.2. So on paper it doesn't look good.Cougs have shown that they can stack the box and hold their own. Dickerson needs to (and probably will) mix in run blitzes with base defensive looks having the dl stay home and let the lbs work.
If they can execute I think they can make it respectable.

JM makes a huge difference on the oline. If the Cougs are ever serious about developing a ground game, they know where to turn.JM makes a huge difference on the oline. He is exceptional.
Nolan can beat us with his arm, but if we can get just enough pressure to throw him off his timing it might be enough. I think we can do this for a half, but depth will catch up to us and he'll carve us up in the second half.USC disrespected OSU by playing them straight up and paid. Yeah, I see it going that way too. Plays we stopped for 3 yards in the first half, break for 10 to 20 by the late 3rd quarter, We've seen it before.Nolan can beat us with his arm, but if we can get just enough pressure to throw him off his timing it might be enough. Well that is who PW wanted as his oline coach … but he took the Raider line job then back to cal before fired there. If the Cougs are ever serious about developing a ground game, they know where to turn.
Turd II?I predict Turd didn’t get the shot and will comply with the mandate and leave WSU at midnight the 18th.
Turd II?
No. Wulff has been upgraded. There can only be one Turd at a time.
"I am (infamously) immortal, I have inside me blood of" losers."There can be only one" "may it be him" The Turd. "Here we are born to be"($inging), losers amongst the worst in conference history. "I have come for your" giving me my next beat down loss.

Sorry couldnt help the Highlander References. 1 of my favorites shows.
I don't guys. Maybe there's more to be enthusiastic about this game than we know. Maybe the intermediate routes and the defense slowing the run. I have no delusions of grandeur about our offense, but maybe they can slow the run game. Then again there are those ....what da calling them....OH, tight ends. WTF knows??Second half shutdown from our O. Valiant effort by the D, but they get left out there way too long, too many short fields, and they’re on vapor in the 4th. Blowout.
Oh, and another disappointing crowd. Between COVID, the Rolo fiasco, and the fact that they’re not really much fun to watch, we haven’t had great crowds. The requirement to show proof of vaccination will cut into it even more. There are an awful lot of tickets available from people who suddenly “can’t make it” due to “conflicts.”
Cal thought they could do better than Tedford, Oops! But Jim never stays unemployed. And where ever he goes, those teams can run the ball. He was fortunate that was exposed to traditional run blocking schemes under Walden and spread run schemes under Erickson. So he has practiced and played them both. Not many OL coaches have that background.Well that is who PW wanted as his oline coach … but he took the Raider line job then back to cal before fired there.

Great point...he does have background in two very different offenses. The one interesting thing about Tedford, despite being a QB guru his QB play and ability to recruit a QB struggled after Rodgers. And he had a lot of success at Oregon developing QB's.Cal thought they could do better than Tedford, Oops! But Jim never stays unemployed. And where ever he goes, those teams can run the ball. The 3 rb's, the experienced oline and the TE's that are both 6-6 260. Difference makersI don't think we an an answer to their run game, and I don't think we can stop their run game.

WSU next coach (Beau Baldwin) is playing Montana State on ROOT right now.As Rolo continues to be WSU's coach...I honestly cannot care less and will likely devote my Saturdays to other things.
Huge pass.WSU next coach (Beau Baldwin) is playing Montana State on ROOT right now.
