Yes, lots of names reported as possibilities. And many could be good choices. I like Rolo for a couple of specific reasons:

- Knows what it is to build & win while geographically remote.
- Knows how to recruit Pacific Islander kids.
- Has existing West Coast and Islands recruiting ties.
- Has an offense consistent with our current roster.
- Has a pass-heavy offense that will run when it makes sense.
- Can step in with the core of a staff immediately.

If he is named I will be happy.

He also coached at Nevada where he learned the Pistol. He apparently incorporated some Pistol principles into his Run and Shoot offense.

In my dreams, I would love if he offered Jim Mastro the offensive coordinator job and they came up with a fusion offense of the Air Raid, Pistol and Run & Shoot.

That would be pretty interesting. I saw someone ask on twitter whether Rolovich would bring in an OC and/or QB coach.
Smart move. I thought Matt as OC and Jay Hill as HC at BYU would make good sense. Nevada surprised a few teams this year.

That's a cool thought.

All good reasons, but you missed the most obvious: Ed is underwhelmed.

And that means what? I was hoping for a big fish, someone like Leach that this time comes out of the woodwork. I was underwhelmed when Wulff was hired so I have patience and an open mind.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Ed here.

This hire is like asking me how my day is and I reply with "fine." I certainly don't hate it, but I certainly don't love it either....it's just, fine.

GIVE ME THE PISTOL IN THE RUN AND SHOOT. A thousand times over, yes! The biggest limitation of the shotgun is the loss of convincing play action, and I think it hurts the ability of a running back to explode through a hole because it takes away the first forward step and replaces it with a sideways one.

I definitely buy that feeling. I like the hire but it’s not in the same category as Leach where almost everyone on the board was blown away. That really doesn’t happen with our program often. I think it’s a solid hire and if he can get his staff right he could be really good. The first signal we were in deep trouble with Wulff was that he was basically bringing his EWU staff. I’m willing to wait and see what Rolovich does moving to the Pac 12. It’s not as big a jump but he has to know he needs a P5 staff and the areas his current staff will not fit. Seems to have some potential good connections as well.

As always time will tell.

Wulff inherited Broussard and Levenseller with D1 experience.

Then brought back Chris Ball. Ditto (WSU, Bama, Pitt)

Two EWU staff members (Niekamp and Sears) had coached FBS but at Army with Harold Etheridge.
The trio were 5-28 at Army in 3 years. Sears departs for EWU and then Niekamp and Etheridge coached together on an 0-13 team at Army.

Etheridge later coaches at North Texas (while V Lane ran the school) for 3 years. One winning year along with 2 9 loss seasons.
Another 10 loss year at Northern Illinois for Harold Etheridge in 2007.

Before they step onto the field at WSU, Sears, Niekamp, & Etheridge were part of 6 FBS teams with 9 or 10 loss seasons.

They added two more under Wulff in 2008 & 2009. Niekamp & Etheridge depart and Jody Sears adds one more 10 loss season.

That is 9 FBS teams with 9 or 10 losses, Paul Wulff's initial staff were part of between 2000 and 2010 (11 years)

Was Ethridge ever voted assistant Of the year in his conference ?
