Washington State chief of staff Dave Emerick was named Director of Football Operations of the Year by CBS Sports today.

Emerick, who has been praised for leading the Cougars' improved recruiting direction, was joined by DFO's from Iowa State, Minnesota, Mississippi State and Virginia. It's a pretty big honor for Emerick, and well-deserved, too.

Interesting.........

The '10..12..10' Cougs
along with the 'Until I See Wins' Cougs on this board feel otherwise.

That's cool. I've always wondered to most/all programs have a DFO? I always thought that was an interesting title and I don't remember hearing it until Emerick.

Chief of staff? Makes me think of Bob Haldeman and that isn't a good thing.

Haldeman wasn't such a bad guy. Was placed in the wrong job. Poor judgment. Very focused in his efforts. Probably would not have had much success as a recruiter.

Let's stop the Watergate analogies, though. I dread the idea of Yaki, Sponge and Ed starting one of their dreary back and forth chains if the subject was Deep Throat!

Neither Haldeman or Ehrlichman were bad guys. Witness To Power was an excellent book by John. The Watergate analogies would be good if there was someone leaking something to the press (the two who really know what's going on) while one of the co-conspirators thinks Deep Throat was Henry Kissinger (Breske). Now you have something fun.
