If you don’t post drivel, nobody will respond to you and your feelings won’t get hurt.Stalkers.
Why resort to the crude name calling. Just present your point and move on. You have some good points to make, but lose validity with all the name calling. Geez!
You know this is a message board, right? It's not your diary. Why not click ignore and move on? Why would some of these shitbags stalk a poster, for a decade, constantly posting in their threads? Constantly CHOOSING to be involved in what they have to write when clearly they don’t agree.
If you see such little value in what some posters have to write, click ignore and move on. Don’t spend a decade being a shitbag and constsntly inserting yourself into their threads.
I sorta remember a certain someone threatening to beat people up not long ago. So that’s more acceptable behavior than an unwanted response to a post? Interesting take. Why not click ignore and move on? Why would some of these shitbags stalk a poster, for a decade, constantly posting in their threads? Constantly CHOOSING to be involved in what they have to write when clearly they don’t agree.

We need a Mod. It’s obvious why.

Join the club (name drug into threads). But I think that you are really liked and your opinions widely respected, so the fawning masses can't help but try to include you in all things Coug. Revel in all the love you receive here on WW.Yes. For example, how many times have you seen my name drug into a thread Ive never posted in? Or a thread by a poster I have on ignore? That poster should be banned.
Or here’s one… what if the ignore button worked two ways? It removes their posts from your feed and your posts from their feed. They no longer get to follow you around like a stalker.
The thing that could blow this is the lawsuits/settlements that are still out there. If it ends up that former athletes have to be paid retroactively, forget it. The liability will exceed the entire athletics budget, and we’ll become a campus that just has a good intramural program.I go back to Biggs initial question: How does it get better? I will try to give a thoughtful reply...wish me luck.
The NewPAC is positioned as the best of the G5 (I guess it is now G6?). Wazzu has one of the highest media profiles in the G6. We actually have a brand. We need state support, similar to others coming from the MWC. So I'm going to assume we get something...if not direct support, then some behind the curtain cost relief. There are almost unlimited ways for that to happen, both transparent and invisible, and everything in between. Wazzu has more allies than you may realize, and the fact that we were clearly scr*wed by UW does not hurt our level of righteousness. So I'm ignoring that issue at present, though of course it is important.
Our NIL efforts have actually been more successful than I expected, especially considering our somewhat late start and lack of tax deduction coherency. I'm aware of family arguments over money donated, yet from what I can see we are exceeding at least my expectations. It is clear that we have some sort of committed fan base. I suspect it is bigger than most of the other NewPAC schools. If not, we are at the very least not at a disadvantage there.
The above (a recognizable brand; media recognition; better NIL than expected; and some visible and invisible government support), paired with a head coach who clearly understands the portal environment, put us in a reasonable position vis a vis the other NewPAC folks. I think we will compete well within our league. Sure, there are areas where we need improvement. Our HC is still learning. I suspect this round of OC/DC will be better than the last pair. Our time clock management will be better. The list of coaching improvement areas is long, and it is reasonable to expect at least some improvement in all of those areas. But long story short, we will do well in our new league. It will be weird; we've never been a big fish in the PAC pond, but now suddenly with the NewPAC being a smaller pond, we are a proportionately larger fish.
Also, do not underestimate the value of a "player's coach" in this environment. Those relationships help not only to manage the departures due to NIL, but also leverage our ability to attract transfers to fill the holes. And CJD is not just a player's coach; he also gets a lot of effort from his staff. Those guys recruit hard, and I expect that the replacement staff will do the same.
How does that translate to 2025? Or 2026? That remains to be seen. But our overall cupboard is not bare. We have assets. We are in a good position compared to those with whom we are competing.
Will it be better than this year? I don't know. But will it be a decent season? I expect so.
OK, guys, shoot at me.
WSU will be in the same boat as all the G6's and some of the P4's. Not like 60-70 schools are going to dump athletics. Not sure what the solution is though. The thing that could blow this is the lawsuits/settlements that are still out there. If it ends up that former athletes have to be paid retroactively, forget it. The liability will exceed the entire athletics budget, and we’ll become a campus that just has a good intramural program.
Yup that’s the next shoe to drop, someone buying a program like a sports franchise. I heard Bama footballs value is like $700MEventually conferences will be gone and the link between academics will be severed and replaces with essentially "ownership" with money-making sports under private equity ownership deals. Can our defense get worse? How does it get better next year?

Word I’ve heard is that we’re losing our coaches because none of them except Dickert had a contract past this year, and they were all being offered pay cuts going forward. The money being allocated for coaches isn’t enough, so not only are we not going to be able to retain them, it’s not likely we’ll be able to hire anyone with any experience.
It would not surprise me to see Dickert either dip into his own salary to pay assistants, or to see him leave too.
WSU is pretty much screwed. We were at a deficit before the realignment, pissed away the nest egg, and hired a bean counter as AD.
To make matters worse, the general state of CFP has undermined fan interest and support. Season ticket sales are down, lots of people didn’t renew. Ad and sponsor revenues are down, because we’re not reliably on any channel that has solid viewership. And bowl ticket sales are slow.
Sorry, but there are no positives. If there isn’t a big splash addition to the conference or a big splash announcement of a media deal soon, the downward trajectory will only steepen. Far more likely that what happens is Mateer announces he’s leaving, which will destroy and remaining interest in the bowl and in next season.
There’s plenty of legendary youth coaches at the high school JV level ready to make the jump! They’ve been training there for years, churning out Varsity backups like nobody’s business! Thrilling 10s of fans with high flying offensive genius and the most innovative schemes on defense. Let’s go!!There are plenty of good coaches. The industry is built to push the best players up the ladder, not the best coaches. There are literally high school coaches out of work in WA that are better than DickTurd. The idea that WSU can’t find good coaches??? The issue is who is searching for them, recognizing them and hiring them. DickTurd fails at all 3. Pat Chunk failed when he hired DickTurd and RoloTurd.
The list of coaches making half of the salary the WSU staff is making is miles long. These are coveted jobs. Even if the salaries are being cut.
