Udub 's women's basketball coach is leaving to U of Arkansas. He turned them into a very good basketball team. Nate Pryor 6'1 guard decommitted from Seattle U. The coach, Cameron Dollar ,was fired from Seattle U. Pryor is supposedly considering udub and the cougs. Expect him to go to udub as they have hired Cameron Dollar as an assistant coach. Also Oregon is pursing NM 's 6'7 SF/G Brown as a graduate transfer,D Altman flew to ALB NM to recruit him .This may have implications as Oregon and WSU are both pursuing 6'7 forward Kwintin Williams and Oregon is near its limit of scholarships.

Neighbors made a good move. Losing Plum and Osahor means it's a good time to go home.

Pryor already has committed to the UW.

Would be nice to pick up Williams but these guys suddenly get a lot prettier in the spring.

Oregon is a favorite for five star 6'11 Brandon Mc Coy and has already recruited highly ranked 6'7 forward Troy Brown .So Kwintin Williams may not be their top recruit,if they can land the graduate transfer. Recruiting is sometimes a crap shoot. If Williams has a very good relationship with Kent ,the cougs may be in a good position. He is also being sought by TCU and maybe udub as they continue to search for players to replenish their depleted roster.Oregon will still be a powerhouse next year. The cougs need a couple of good players

Cougs might not be as far away as people think from being pretty respectable. A guy like Williams added to what we already have could make a difference. I really like Franks, Flynn, Daniels, and Pollard asva greatvrole player.

If one adds Arinze and Ergas to the mix ,it may get interesting. Kent, well known for his hyperbole, said of Arinze",he was unstoppable in practice". Likewise he called Ergas,"The best frosh on the west coast"," he just needs time in the gym". He said of the redshirts,"they beat us all the time" If they just prove to be good D1 players, they will help the team.Of course, people will ask ,"why didn t they play this year when needed"? I just hope they can add a couple of quality players to the mix.

Oregon now hotly recruiting 6'9 WSU recruit Kenny Wooten who just decommitted from ASU. He is ready to commit there as he said that Oregon is the biggest reason for his decommittment. Dana Altman flew in to personally recruit him. .It looks like Oregon will not be offering a scholarship to Kwintin Williams. So unless someone else offers it is between WSU and TCU for his services.

Who is this kid? I know zero about him.Is he the son of Omma Givens who played in the 1990's?

Sorry. Its Roberto Gittens not Givens. 4 star out of Foss. Originally committed to Boise State, but never signed.

I had read that Gittens is a very talented player who has had problems on the court? There was talk of him reclassifying to 2018? During the last part of the season he caught fire and really delivered on the court He is a 6'5 guard with a huge upside. If he can be signed and Haskins and Kent can work with him,he would be a huge get.

Supposedly he had a academic issues and a temper problem at one time that cooled interest from some big time programs. If he does decide to reclassify to 18 it is probably to get looks from higher profile schools.

I agree that he would be a good get for the program

Well a player like this may need mentoring which Kent says that Haskins is great at. I do not know his background but perhaps a father figure may be needed? They do not come much better than Ed Haskins. Gittens had early 2016 interest from udub,Oregon,Arizona ,Minn, but they cooled after his on court episodes. WSU was also involved early but he choose Boise State

Brand X is reporting that Roberto Gittens is visiting this weekend. They have offered and he is listening. Perhaps, this will be the first dividend realized from the hiring of Ed Haskins? It will be huge if he signs as we will be making more head way in recruiting players feom across the mountains.

Chris Sodom a 7'3 225 C is back in the market Sodom is an African product and looks like he can run the court very well, He just decommitted from New Mexico but had numerous big school offers , I heard that he may have been hurt this year but is certainly worth a long look.

Oregon has just concluded a visit by former graduate transfer NM Guard ,6'4 Brown. Now Kenny Wooten a 6'9 four star PF is now visiting. I see commitments from both players to Oregon . I believe that they are almost full and are waiting on 6'11 Brandon Mc Coy s decision. These may clear the way for both Roberto Gittins and Kwintin Williams to look elsewhere. It looks like Oregon Arizona and UCLA will be loaded next year. The cougs still have 3 scholarships for next year.

Jordan Bell 6'8 Oregon forward going pro, hiring agent. He will be a mid second round pick and it is a risky proposition and maybe a bad decision for the young man.The Ducks will now be hard pressed to be a top team if they do not land McCoy

Looks like Goss is going from GU too. Still a top 25 team next year, but not sure I see a deep run by them

I see in the Spokesman he signed with an agent. When Goss signed with the UW I thought he would take them to the next level but when he left it really spoke to how dysfunctional things were over there. Amazing he ends up taking GU to the championship game. They will drop back without him, Karnowski, and Collins. Think they also lose Mathews. They will find other transfers but Williams-Goss is going to be hard to top.

I agree the more I think. Don't care how highly touted the replacements are. The back court starts to to look a lot like it did when they would dominate the WCC and make an early exit in the tourney.

When they needed someone to make a play or shot Goss would step up. Perkins is talented but he's not Goss in terms of talent and intangibles IMO. As you said though they are still top 25 and probably top 10 to 15 when all is said and done.

On Brand X ,there is speculation on whether or not 7'3 Riley Sorn from Richland Wa 2018, will commit to WSU.He was discussed earlier on this board. He will be a project but a worthwhile one if he does commit.

More trivia. 6'10 F Bigb- Williams transferring out of Oregon, the ducks will have almost a complete roster change Also 6'6 SG Jermaine Haley a 4 star Canadian import at NMSU is transferring to udub He has to sit out a year.

Evaluation Period. Friday is the first day of the evaluation period where college coaches can visit recruits. The only known recruits the cougs have targeted are 6'5 Gittins and 6'7 PF Kwintin Williams for the 2017 class. We should get clarity on these two potential recruits soon. Also the new assistant basketball coach has not been named. Any names starting to circulate?

Jacob Hughes a 7'0 250 C from California is sometimes listed as a potential coug recruit. However,he was offered in June of last year and no news since then. His only known two offers are from WSU and UTEP. He is listed as a 3 star recruit so it is curious that he does not have more offers. it is also unknown if the cougs are still pursuing Hughes.

Udub s 6'10 PF Dickerson returning for next season. This will help the mutts and has recruiting implications.

I think a good decision for Dickerson in the end. Interesting he had 'interest' from Miami, Virginia, Duke according to one of their sites and visited UVA. Somewhat surprising the UVA interest given the article said he wasn't considered good defensively.

At the UW he's a key piece of the puzzle the next couple of years. You never know somewhere else, have to adjust, etc. More players should follow this path.

Deion James 6'8 juco forward from Pima is visiting Pullman.Other schools listed as offering are Colorado,Purdue,Boston College, and Nevada. He also visited CSU a couple of weeks ago.

St John s grad transfer 6'8 Derrin Williams, who visited WSU is now considering Pitt and Nevada. It looks like the cougs are out. Also 6'7 D Cheatum a 6'7 PF from SDSU transferred to Arizona State.

Oregon landed their fourth commit in 6'9 HS PF Kenny Wooten . He is the 110 th ranked HS player in the Nation. This elevates their recruiting to being ranked 10th Nationally . They are still after 2 HS players and 2 grad transfer students. The ducks are looking at 6'11 HS AA and grad transfers for experience. They will save 1-2 scholarships for 2018. So they may have 2 available now. This may have recruiting implications for the cougs.

Thanks for the updates. It's hard to find any WSU recruiting info. Cougs need to land a few ballers.

They are still pursuing 6'7 Kwintin Williams, juco, and Roberto Gittins 6'5 HS. Who else they are after is a matter of conjecture as these are the only visits one knows about .The staff has been very close lipped about recruits. Even when 6'8 JC AA Deion James visited Pullman over the weekend ,there was little mention even on the other board of little nerds inc.It is also about time that the new coach is announced as Kent said one would be on board sometime this month.

Williams and Gittens would be good additions whether we landed a 3rd or not. Williams has 3 years doesn't he.

Both would be welcome additions.Williams has three years left of D 1 edibility. Gittens is a high school er. A poster on the other board compared him to a young Adrian Dantley? I have only seen brief video clips of him, but he is a well rounded player. He is /was playing AAU ball and may not have completed his visits. It looks like James may be down to Fresno State, CSU, and the cougs, as he has visited all three schools.

James looks solid. Good skills, shoots the ball well, and a decent athlete. Williams is an explosive athlete but probably doesn't have nearly the same skills as James or Franks for that matter.

Gittens would hopefully slide in behind Hinson on the wing where he can develop as a player for a couple years.

Adding a grad transfer big to the mix would be a good idea as tough as that is to do to a program that's struggling. At the moment they only have 3 to give this year and next.

UNLV got the commitment from Brandon McCoy a 6'11 Center who is the top 10 commits in HS ball .A terrible decision by the player, who spurned offers from Mich St and Oregon ,teams which have great coaches. This is a big blow to Oregon s recruiting.

These commits may impact coug recruiting. Ahmed Hamby a 6'9 grad transfer committed to TCU. Hamby was once recruited by the cougs. Also the number one rated juco PF 6'7 Shakur Huiston committed to the UNLV running rebels. Both of these teams were said to have offered juco Kwintin Williams.

NMSU has offered Kwintin Williams. So far ,he has not reported scheduling recruiting visits to any schools.
