Well not a peep from Kwintin Williams,are his grades in order?He has not announced any visits or activity lately. Roberto Gittens has been quiet and no announced visits since his coug visit, Derion James stated he had one more visit to make We will probably hear something within the next week April is almost over and the other assistant coach has not been named . Next week should have a flurry of activity ,hopefully positive for the cougs.
Kwintin Williams 6'7 had a strong performance in the West Coast Elite for unsigned Seniors/Jucos in Las Vegas. Also playing was 6'5 Devante Doutrive a coug recruit. There are over 100 college coaches in attendance for the two day event. WSU coaches are there.The unsigned players are shopping their wares in hopes of landing scholarship offers.
Deion James is officially visiting Southern Utah University this weekend. So it is probably down to WSU,Fresno State, and CSU, unless there is another P 5 offer.
OSU s Drew Eubanks and Stephen Thompson were not invited to the NBA Combine.This dramatically increases the likelihood of their returning for next season.
We are backup plans for these guys which is what we should expect at this point. It looks like we have decent shots to end up getting Gittens and James or Williams. With Williams performance he's probably waiting for a 'better' offer.
If we don't get James or Williams I really hope we find a grad transfer big (or 2) that can provide some depth.

Only bad thing about this scenario is that we already have 5 juniors on the roster for next year by my count. It would probably make sense to leave 1 spot open since there are no seniors on this years roster. Always some attrition, but still looks awfully unbalanced
I think that they need to find the most talented players they can find,They need to start winning ballgames ,the balance in Scholarships is not the main problem
It is not the main problem, but for a team that has trouble finding a couple of good talents each year, replacing 6 or 7 would be a daunting task. A decent grad transfer would be nice. If we could get James and Gittens I would leave the last spot open if we couldn't find a grad transfer.

As noted on other Board , R Gittens announces today. Also E Brown ,a UNM grad transfer ,has committed to Oregon. A big get for the ducks.

The Verbal commits site says Colorado State is full. They just picked up Alonzo Tyson (JC PF) and Kris Martin (ORU Transfer wing). Unless a couple players are going to transfer it doesn't appear they have room for Gittens or Deion James.
did not see this i just posted on this on another thread. You beat me to it..I really like this kid. I believe that he will be a better college player than HS player.
I hope that i am right but i think that James may sign with the cougs. These two guys are much better than what CSU just signed.
When I read an article on Gittens in the Tacoma News Tribune in January or February I noticed he had only verbally committed to BSU and that he was a 4-star. Never would have imagined at the time he would end up at WSU. I don't know about the 4-star analysis but he's a good fit with Hinson coming in and Ergas continuing his own development. Will be interesting to see how Gittens develops over the next couple of years. He's got the raw ability.
He will challenge for a starting position right off the bat.He is better than the two 4 star players from Ed Haskins HS team, in my opinion ,who signed with udub and Stanford.
Oregon State landed 6'8 U Of Mass grad transfer Seth Berger. He averaged 5.5 pts and 3.3 rbs in 19.5 mins of play last year.He will help them and they should have a better team next year.
Colorado signed 6'0 pg Mckinley Wright who was Mr basketball In Minnesota. He tops off a nice recruiting class for the Buffs

Kentucky and Oregon are the only two schools to have 4 players invited to the NBA Combine. Oregon players Jordan Bell,Dorsey,Brooks and Boucher have been invited. Oregon is touting their incoming recruiting class as the best in their history. They are also hosting 6"7 Bowden a another 5 star player this weekend. The rich get richer.
OSU s Tres Trinkle granted a medical redshirt,retains a year of eligibility. Drew Eubanks 6'10 PF trying to get invited to private workouts ,he was not invited to the Combine. OSU also got a 6'4 walk on from Seattle ,he averaged 18 pts and 5 rbs,is said to be a major sleeper.
It is a nice idea but there are very few highly rated players left on the board. Kent said that he would hire a new coach by the end of April. The time has passed so something is holding up the hire. It has been unusually quiet

There has been absolutely no word on his status.Perhaps grades are an issue until he is declared eligible? Or perhaps,he is holding out for a "bigger name" school? The other schools mentioned do not appear to have room for him.There are seven days left for recruits to sign during this period.Kent has also not named the new coach, as avabob has pointed out.
May 17, 2017 which is next Wednesday is the last day a recruit can sign a LOL during this recruiting period. A recruit can just enroll in a school after that date. It is coming down to the wire for the cougs.The thing which really puzzles me is that Ernie has not announced the hiring of another basketball coach.
It is curious. Do you think he is going for an experienced coach? Or, do you think he is trying to find the next young hotshot recruiter?
I would hope that he will hire a young energetic coach. The ideal coach is one who has been working, at a non P 5 school not as a recruiter, but who has been recruiting.
Kwintin Williams has recently received an offer from Portland State. It seems for some reason ,the big schools are not actively pursuing this guy. One wonders if the cougs have also cooled on his recruitment?
Anyone know whether Jeremiah April had real interest in WSU once upon a time? He's a 5 that ended up at Indiana before going to Wabash Junior College. He's listed at 7'0" 250 and seems to have good skill although not great athleticism and 2 to play.

I hope he is not coming. This guy will look great in airports and getting off the bus. However ,he averaged 4 pts and 2.7 rbs in Juco ball . He was rated as a 3 and left Indiana after playing a total of 16 minutes during his frosh year.
