Chidom transferring

I was watching part of the Oregon game and one of the announcers reminded me that Oregon targeted multiple coaches who turned them down before getting to Altman. That's with all their facilities and resources. They were going after a totally different pool but our pool has always been shallow.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and be patient as hard as that is to watch. It's all hindsight. Maybe Moos had coaches fall through but given how things can play out sometimes it's best to do nothing.

I agree we should have done nothing! We paid Bone half what we pay Kent for imo a better product and at a minimum an equal product.

I thought Bone did a good job his first 3 years. He overcame multiple injuries to make that CBI run, snd the final 4 NIT the prior year didnt get the respect it should have from the fan base. It really hurt losing Moore the 4th year. Just not enough quality recruits

I’m not sure I would agree about the recruits. Moore, Ladd, Shelton, Q, Ike, Hawkinson, Longrus, Railey, Woolridge, Lacy, Aden, Kendrick-Drew, Dilorio. That’s a lot more impressive list than Kent has delivered.

Some really good ones in there, but Woolridge and Que never lived up to their hype. Aden blew his knee just as he was becoming a real contributor. Ladd fought injuries his entire career. DKD and Longrus were good role players. Not significantly better than Daniels and Pollard.

All in all Bone got some bad breaks recruiting

Que was a disappointment to me, I was really high on him as a recruit and he had a solid career but not what I expected. We beat out UW and Gonzaga for his services, now we seem to beat out Long Beach state or Northern Colorado. Imo Drew was better than Daniels because of his versatility but Daniels has better numbers. Longrus was a solid role player as is Pollard but I still see potential for Pollard to take the next step up. Royce Woolridge has a solid year with 11 pts a game average, then the bottom fell out for some reason.

Woolridge had great body control and ability to get to the hoop his first year. Always had a horrible shot that seemed to fall for him, but it to caught up with him the second year.

Perhaps their lack of improvement may be tied to the lack of good coaching?Even Magic johnson developed an outside shot and he is one of the great ones.

Motum, Klay, Lacy all upped their gsmes under Bone coaching

Lolz on including Klay into that mix. Dude was a superstar from day 1.

The biggest development stories in the past decade have been Josh Hawkinson and Robert Franks. Hawkinson was told to pack on weight and try to become Aron Baynes 2.0. Kent told him to drop weight and stretch the floor with his jumper. Turned a career bench warmer into a star. Robo showed flashes early on his career, but really emerged his Jr. year. The problem has been an inability to develop beyond the limitations of bad recruiting.

His new recruiting crop shows promise much to the chagrin of detractors. Elleby,Cannon and quite possibly Kunc are quality recruits.I would love to sit down Daniels and Skaggs for Cannon and Kunc.I am still hopeful that the recruited PGs will start to show better as the season progresses.

Skaggs actually was pretty impressive last night without having to rain 3s. I thought his d looked much better, although part of it was being able to hide his lack of quickness with Elleby and Cannon on the floor. The guy isnt a bad rebounder either. I know I have had mixed feelings on him. Kunc is going to be good but we need patience. He has never seen the kind of physicality that Rider showed. Also, I think with Daniels we might not have hit that extended bad stretch that resulted in all the turnovers.

We badically ran a decent team out the gym last night save for one bad stretch

I would say there were multiple bad stretches but in general not a bad game. Kunc hasn’t shown he is good enough to be on the floor. His stock in my book is dropping fast, I have to keep reminding myself he is only a true freshman. It wouldn’t surprise me if Kunc is the next guy ELcomanche chooses to hate on.

Kunc has the look of a good player. Agree he is not ready to help, probably should have red shirted, but I like him a lot. Different type of player, but mot far behind ehere Motum was as a frosh

I see a taller Beau Archibald. If that plays out he’ll be very solid down the road.

I don't see the ball skills I remember from Archibald at this point but similar bodies at this point

Skaggs shot selection has started to improve. Seemed like he was getting shots more in the flow of the offense and he is a good rebounder for his size and athletic ability. They basically went 3 wings with Franks (who is a bit of a wing himself) and Ali/Robinson. The "bigs" didn't get a lot of minutes. Would like to see Wade earn more minutes before conference.

Hopefully they can get Kunc some minutes . I remember Archibald being more advanced in terms of skill as a freshman but he couldn't stay healthy. Kunc will get there at some point but he's as thin as any true frosh I remember including Cowgill and Chidom.

Archibald didn’t stay in Pullman long so I’m not sure if he didn’t like it or just wanted a better basketball situation for himself but he seems to be doing well coaching at the international pro leagues. He was a college assistant to Jim Calhoun at Connecticut on one of their final four teams and also was an assistant to Bobby Knight at Texas Tech and an assistant to the former Chinese National team coach. Fun to look guys like him up, especially when they have been successful.
