Colorado has been discussed a few times on here, and unfortunately they fell to Hawaii.

We of course know what it's like to lose to Hawaii...not once...but twice... obviously there are some who claimed CU to be better than us in certain aspects.

For example thinking Liufau should have been ranked higher than Falk
Pac-12 QB rankings post spring
"Why is Berc and Laufau below Falk?"

Or how they are learning how to win
4-5-6
"I think they are learning how to win."

I was out at my office the other day and I ran into this shipping guy named Paul in the basement. He came up and ask me what I thought the over under was for Colorado to bounce back and go to a bowl game after 8 years, and I said probably none because their recruiting has been so poor that they would need to get a lot more talent and upgrade. He scoffed at the idea. Said Colorado was loaded with tremendous talent all over the place. He pointed to the 4 wins in 2013 and rifled off a couple names that most people don't know and Paul Richardson drafted in the second round and shouted and trumpeted Liufau as an incredible QB. He told me he knew Dan Hawkins and they were doing it the right way with McIntyre. That recruiting stars and rankings didn't matter but a special eye for talent and a twinkle was all they needed.

I just let the man ramble...He was embarrassed that Colorado had lost its innocence.....

I had heard it all before...and seen it too... I put on my Coug hat and pressed the up button...some people live in the basement, and there's a reason they stay there, and it's because if they can't see the truth...then they'll never know what to fix.

Here's the guy, who was supposed to be ahead of Falk, numbers from last night.

23/40 158 yds. 57% comp 0 TDs 1 INT 85.7 Rating.

I stayed up to watch that game. Limited receiving depth behind Spruce, a below average OL, and a defense that couldn't consistently stop the run or get pressure... against Hawaii.

I'll be shocked if they're better than 4-9 at the end of the year.

Arizona had almost just as bad a night. If they had played even an average team, they would have got slaughtered last night. First, they lost the best player on the team (maybe even in the conference) in Scooby Wright. They did win, but only 43-32 against UT - San Antonio. UTSA returned two offensive starters and yet gained 525 total yards on offense. Heck, UTSA only had four returning starters on defense. Yet, Arizona could only score 42 and two of those were set up by short fields because of UTSA turnovers.

Last year they lost them by 3 after UTSA opened up beating Houston in only their 4th year of existence. They had 37 in their scholarship class for 2015'.

Did not know that. Very interesting, thanks.

It's going to be a rough season. I think they win 3 games at most.

Well, that sucks. That kid was good with guaranteed first round money in the NFL. Hopefully, it is nothing serious as Rodriguez suggested but it sure didn't look good. I did not see any major hit on him or entanglement with another player so maybe just a sprain or, at worst, a bit of a cartilage tear. Thanks for the information, man2.

No one hit Jordie Nelson either. We can only hope it is not an ACL or MCL.

Looks like he's going to have an MRI, but they don't currently think it's going to be season-ending: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...ooby-wright-not-expected-to-be-out-all-season

I have a theory that it has something to do with the cleats. There have been a lot of ghost knee injuries all of a sudden. I've never heard of so many happening this early in the season. You see it in the NFL and in college. It seems like when they plant or cut the cleat is locking up in a strange way or something and their momentum is causing the damage.

Basically twisting their own knees.

Interesting comments. One, this is what makes college football so much fun. One week doesn't mean squat the next week. I 100% agree Cu will be lucky to win 3 games if they play like they did last night. I also agree they have no deep threat that has been developed, and they need that. But I do remember CU getting beat by the absolute worst team in D1 football at home, then going on the road the following week with a crappy QB and won.

In terms of learning how to win, it is a long process for a team like CU. Crawl before they can walk, walk before they can jog. In 2012 and 2013 they barely got first downs. They averaged just about 20 a game in 2013, 25 a game in 2014. There margin of loss in 2013 was 29 points a game, and it was reduced to 12.

The next step in "Learning" how to win is actually make a play to win the game. Last night didn't bode well to that next step. The very last play of the game they could have tied it up if they managed the clock correctly. they didn't. They threw a pass to the flat which meant nothing and the guy got tackled in bounds. Toss it over his head. Throw it into the end zone. That is the next step in the learning curve.

And no way we should lose to CU this year. That should be our at least our 6th win of the season if not 7th.

In terms of where I would rank the QB's, Liufau has a long body of work. Falk in his three starts had one great game, one average game, and one below average game. Also, it was not until last Saturday that Leach decided on the starter. So it would be hard in the preseason to rank a non starter ahead of a starter, don't you think?

In terms of CU's loss, we shall see how devastating it is. Hawaii maybe the dregs. They may be better than we thought. The thing I never will get is why is CU on the road at Hawaii, why WSU is on the road at Nevada, and why Michigan would ever agree to going to Utah. No win situations.
