Election Day

OK, since you all want to purge some emotion, I will as well.

- A president who 4 years ago tries to overturn the election, incites a mob to attack the capitol and refuses to send help for hours when congressmen/women and law enforcement are asking for help while under attack...and then in the last month says he is going to use the military to go after his political enemies...is simply unfit for office. Dress it up any way you like.
- I'd like to see my party find its way back to its roots. I've come to the conclusion that this will not happen if Trump wins. If Trump loses, and his acolytes pay the price in the party, I'd bet on something similar to what happened post-Watergate taking place...after a single 4 year term by a democrat as president, a real Republican will be elected. We have to lose this one to save the party.

Just curious. Who would you call a real Republican?

A very small part of me is actually hoping that Trump wins. Then in a few months after he wreaks havoc on America, I can come back and tell all you Trumpers "I told you so". Until then we are in for a shitshow for the next 2 months. Not looking forward to that at all...... :(

Just curious. Who would you call a real Republican?
Well, Trump and Vance won the nomination at the GOP convention, does that count?

I see that dgib has already very effectively wasted your argument about abortion being a "constitutioal right", so I will gloss over that here, except to point out that your understanding of the actual Constitution and Bill of Rights appears to be lacking.

What I will address is court packing, which you also do not appear to understand. Trump absolutely did NOT engage in any court packing, none at all. What he did do was appoint three conservative justices to the Supreme Court, as he had a right and duty to do. Just because you do not personally like those justices, or approve of their judicial philosophy does not mean that he did anything wrong. Sorry to burst your bubble on that issue.

Court packing is is a term used to define enlarging the size of the court by ADDING justices that fit a different philosophy than the current makeup of the court, so that decisions can be counted on to lean to the side of the new appointees. In reality, with a current 6-3 "conservative leaning", doing court packing would entail appointing a minimum of 4 additional justices to the court to give it a 7-6 majority. I Harris is elected with a Senate D majority, you can expect a move to appoint 6 new justices, most of whom will be unable to define what a woman is and think that AR-15's can fire 6-800 rounds per second.

Here is the thing- what the Dems/libs wish to do is eliminate the concept of having 3 co-equal branches of government. They never want to lose a case in the SC, they want it to simply be a rubber stamp for them as they occupy the White House and control both legislative branches. And THAT, my friend, actually WOULD be the end of "our democracy"! Of course, you do understand that we do not actually have a democracy, right? Our country is a republic.
I will push back. While abortion doesn't appear in the constitution that does not mean it wasn't a constitutional right as it was ruled by the Supreme court in '72. That right was understood as that and required a Supreme Court ruling to overturn it making it no longer a protected right.

Several major Supreme Court cases have reversed previous rulings that then make them constitutional rights by rule.

Women had a constitutional right to an abortion in every state. Now they don't. That was a right that was "taken away" nationwide, while still existing in select states. Taihtsat

It seems that not having a convention and forcing a shitty candidate all while telling voters theyre racist or sexist if they don’t vote for that person, doesn’t work. Kamala is going to end up with millions and millions less votes than Biden. What a miscalculation and out of touch move by democrats. Alienate your moderate voters and lay the blame at their feet for being bad people while they simply ask the party to listen to them and provide a candidate they wanted. Time to start listening to the people again.

The arrogant elites running the democratic party will never admit they f__cked up. It's always someone else's fault. They will blame white people/rural rednecks.

Obama and Biden have been swept into the dustbin if history. The GOP will continue to expand with minority and under 30 vote.

I’d bet democrats win the next presidency with the guy from Pennsylvania. They just need to get reacquainted with their constituents. Could be uphill though if Vance and RFK etc actually do some good things that moderates like.

I will take that bet.

We all know own he won because he's been president. That wasn't the question. Do think there was cheating that went into him winning to a degree that he shouldn't have declared the winner? Yes or no?
Yes.

Are we done here?

They’ll blame Biden and say there was a “messaging” problem.

I was traveling yesterday so missed some of the details, but is it true 15M less votes were counted? Seems a little odd. Will you election fraud and rigged election experts take a peek into that? I’m sure you’re very concerned. Thanks!

Biden wasn't going to win either. They took they're shot betting they didn't have time to go through a hard-fought nomination process.

In hindsight Biden should have announced a year before he wasn't running again and he def should have made a more aggressive and earlier attempt at addressing the border. Taihtsat

Do you not get that Biden opened the border, then his administration lied about it being secure for years?

Odd, why would Biden quit a year earlier??? He exhibited zero signs of cognitive decline and up until a week or so before the COUP, he was “running circles around his staff” remember?

And that is where I place a huge amount of blame - on him for allowing that to be a major issue that Trump could build upon. Visually it was a terrible look and certainly on appearance alone, looked ignored. Taihtsat

You really believe thiis? Sounds like complete fabrication propagated by rightwing media/propaganda sources to generate outrage.

But let’s just be honest here: 71+ Million Americans did vote for a racist.

Rogan and possibly Musk as well swung the male under 30 vote 20 points from 2020.
Be difficult to quantify that. Economically younger males in this country are falling behind women. Less education, less income more young adult males feeling left behind. And this even though our economy is doing well and inflation appears in check ( despite the cost of housing elephant in the room).

No doubt lots of young males and others are influenced by those two but as an older educated adult with some critical thinking ability I am amazed that anyone would give a rip what either of them have to say.

Border security was ignored.

These last two posts encapsulate why you don’t understand why Kamala lost.

Good luck!
I’m quite aware of why she lost - an extremely weak candidate who failed completely to distinguish herself from Biden. That and facism is cool. Sieg Heil!

True but let’s not forget who killed the border bill that was about to pass a few months ago: The Spray Tanned Führer.
No matter how many times the talking heads on MSNBC tell you otherwise, it was a shit bill. And Biden and the Border Czarina opened the border for three years before it was in committee.

As clueless as you are about the results of the election, I hope you can weasel your way into a top position within the Democrat party. That way you can keep pushing your false bullshit and it will result in better results for America.
1. Donald Trump was out of power and had absolutely nothing to do with "killing the bill".
2. The bill itself was a horrible piece of shit.
3. The bill failed because it lacked the support within Congress.
4. If the Dems were even halfway serious about fixing the border cluster****, they would have brought up the House bill for debate that had been sent to them many months earlier. Ask Chuck to explain why he didn't do that for the American people instead of packing the bill with pork for Ukraine.
5. Calling millions of people fascists and Nazis and racists is not a winning strategery. A better way to gain support is to present them with actual plans and policies that actually benefit those people.
6. So you don't care at all what Musk and Rogan have to say? Perhaps it would be better to listen to them a bit, both you and the Dem party. After all, they are wildly successful individuals. Not that their success means they are wise with political advice, but listen to their thoughts on what will make the country better and let that guide you into making better decisions on who to vote for.

I'm an independent, and any democrat mad at the results should pissed at their party. They flat out blew it. And you could see it coming. They choose to dig their heels in and didn't want to change their tune. Their messaging and campaign was botched. Biden should have been pushed out earlier. Harris wasn't the Biden replacement answer....she had low ratings at a VP...was she going to be more favorable as President.

Again, this is 100% on the terrible democrat messaging and policies. If they don't change to more moderate, common sense policies, they will lose badly again.

Agree, especially on Biden not staying true to his pledge to be a "transitional" President. He never should have run for reelection. I'm an independent too BTW. Pretty much voted all R in the Wa. state races. All of whom lost except hopefully Newhouse. Look for him to be stripped of all committee assignments if he holds on.

I'll be interested to see what comes from the R's mouths going forward. Lindsey (who I can't stand) has appeared to throw out an olive branch. Wonder who will replace McConnell.

I don't know that there was a viable alternative other than Harris. Newsom, Whitmer or whoever played it smart by passing and focusing on 2028, IMO.

I did want to say that I 100% agree with you that Democrats are idiots. They got so caught up in trying to fix issues for fringe groups that they pissed off the majority of the country. I'm not surprised that Trump won because the Democrats made it easy to generate headlines that people would love to hate.

As far as the future goes? It's a bit early to declare GOP domination given that 4 years ago Donald Trump was supposed to have been swept into the dustbin of history. A$$holes like JD Vance are not going to be winning national elections. There's a reason that the GOP is too chickenshit to walk away from Trump. Anyone else trying his bullshit would be in prison. But hey, you gotta respect that Trump knows how to push buttons and do whatever the f#ck he wants. It's impressive.
