Congratulations, SD, glad to hear it. Your son's first year may be attenuated but I pray that his second one is better and provides the full experience of college life in Pullman.Yes. Don’t you remember my excited post from almost a year ago?

I live in the PHX valley with my wife and love it. So much to do we never get to it all. There is hiking, biking, college and pro sports, weather for a swim pool 5-6 mos a year, boating at Lake Pleasant, professional auto racing, amateur club car racing which I do once a month Sept - May. We have a second home in Pullman so we miss the heat in July thru Sept. I can’t imagine living anywhere else but AZ. Also one last thing, it’s super clean and safe where we live.

Cal Poly - if housing was an issue, she could have been a live in nanny for some millionaire's family (like their OL coach)? My oldest really liked Cal Poly. Whole family really liked the area.
We could sign a waiver, but my guess is 10% of parents would be willing to send their kids into a dorm, which kind of defeats the purpose of campus living if 1/10th of the students are in campus living.

Our place is in the west valley. You can get a nice place for 300k maybe less. East side over by Scottsdale will be twice that, maybe more.My wife has always talked about getting a house in Phoenix. We missed the boat in 2012-13 when we could have bought a house pretty cheap. Prices have jumped a little more than I'm comfortable with at the moment.
We looked at houses in Wenatchee but that area has gotten absolutely silly with house prices. Crappy little 90 year old houses for $225k. Anything decent is over $500k.
Hey SD, I'm glad your boy gets to live on campus! My daughter, who will be a freshman this fall, lives outside of Odessa WA and to say the wifi there is problematic is an understatement! What is the first step in getting an "exemption", so to speak? Call the Housing department and go from there? Can you give me a quick cliff notes synopsis of how you guys did it?My son will still be living on campus this fall as a freshman and attending classes remotely. Our internet is spotty and on-line isn’t a good option for him from rural Montana. He will at least have somewhat of a normal college experience (e.g. leaving home, around other students in similar situations as his).
Getting to this spot over the last few days was an emotional roller coaster and now we feel a huge sense of relief.
In short, your daughter goes to the housing section, she needs to log into that, and then there’s a section that lists the possible exemptions. You check the box that is applicable and then hit submit (or whatever the button is) and then it pops up with your housing assignment and lists room mates if applicable. After that you select your move in date and time.Hey SD, I'm glad your boy gets to live on campus! Thanks in advance!!
Great, thanks SD. Sounds somewhat less painful than anticipated. I was under the understanding that all dorms were single occupancy only this fall? Regardless, I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can get her in there. She was crushed at the thought of spending one more day in Odessa..lol.In short, your daughter goes to the housing section, she needs to log into that, and then there’s a section that lists the possible exemptions. I’m at my office so can’t really see the actual screens right until I get home and my son logs in. It was pretty painless, though.
On the roommate thing, my son is in Honors Hall. He requested a private room originally. It’s a suite sort of thing and it shows roommates for the other rooms. I don’t know if that’s who will actually be there or if those would be roommates in the spring.
Good luck. We can try and coordinate a phone conversation later if it will help.
Absolutely. Let me (us?) know if it works out alright. I can dig deeper if you need. It seemed really easy on our end. Like you, I thought it was going to be a nightmare.Great, thanks SD. Certainly appreciate your help, SD...
Go Cougs!
Talked with housing this afternoon. Pretty much said verbatim what you shared. They were friendly and helpful...as were you. I'll let you know how it all pans out.Absolutely. Success! She's in Streit. Happy girl both for being granted permission to live there and she really wanted on the north side of campus. Thanks again SD.Absolutely.
