Give the Beavs credit. They stuck to their running game plan and it has worked. Defense was on the field too much as the offense has not been good.
Offense looks nervous at times.
This should not be the case even with all the injuries.
Rest of the season is in some peril.
Have to figure Utah is a loss but the last four could go either way depending on how the team adjusts and how soon the injured players get back.
Have to flush this one and move on.

Defense has been on the field too long in almost every game, because the offense couldn’t stay on it. Offense hasn’t improved. Ward hasn’t improved.
At one point, I thought 4 of our last 5 probably went in the win column. Now, finishing 0-6 looks just as feasible.

We are slow, hate trouble with dropped passes, and have a bad offensive line.
We can still win games though. OSU is as good as we are or better. The Beavs could go on a nice run.

Ward is not a guy. Not now anyways. A good portal QB beats him out on decision making alone.

Ward hasn't improved and is below average to average at best, for now.
But Ward still shows flashes of greatness, good play.
Ward has weaknesses, and still has a lot of upside, potential.

As bad as Ward was, this game, you can't have a QB like Ward consistently pass it about 80% of the time, against a 2,3,4 man rush, with 6,7,8,9 dropped back in pass coverage, and 2,3,4,5 in Box.
That's a recipe for disaster for any QB, but especially for Ward.
You MITIGATE, work around Cam's weaknesses, by HANDING IT TO JENKINS MORE, and by having Cam RUN IT MORE and do more RPO, etc, and by NOT having your WR's EFFIN DROP THE BALL 5 TO 10 TO 15 TIMES, WHEN CAM WARD HIT THE WR IN THE HANDS ON KEY 2ND DOWN, 3RD DOWN PLAYS.
Jenkins had 7 yards per carry, on each of the 7,8 CARRIES, except 1,2,3 carries where he only had 5 yards.
But despite that, Jenkins only got 7,8 CARRIES, instead of the at least 15 carries minimum, he should have gotten.

I think they could be a decent team. Defense is good enough to win, but the offense gives them no support.
Offense feels like they should be better, but they’re held back by bad playcalling and by Ward. His decision making is consistently bad, and I think on most teams he’d be on the bench now.
I’m actually concerned at this point that maybe he’s reached his ceiling, because he hasn’t shown any improvement. Hard to tell, since he’s not getting help from his OC.
Ward and Morris both got thrown in the deep end by moving from IW to WSU. They’re both drowning. Dickert needs to recognize that, and either throw them a lifeline or put a foot on their heads.
And this is Dick’s Bill Doba moment. Either fire the assistants that suck and be a HC or don’t. And watch the program slide and then everyone gets fired. When it’s time to be the boss and CEO you have to be willing to make tough decisions. If he can’t fire his OC and OL coach after this, what is the bottom? What is the least he is willing to accept?
My concern is this…. Dick doesn’t know what he’s looking at. He doesn’t know a good OC or OL coach when he sees one. These are the 2 most important hires on his offense. He f’ed up both of them.
He has zero clue what a P5 qb is. All this talk about Ward and how great he was and he is the real deal… He sucks. Bad decision after bad decision. Led the team to 10 points today. This is 7 games in. When does he get better???? Ward got cash and a truck. What did WSU get? He is out of his league. Truly. He is a Big Sky qb.
You’ll get no argument from me. I don’t think OC at WSU is a job that you get to learn on the fly. If you can’t do it, you need to go.
As for Ward…at this point, I’d rather have JDL. And I didn’t really want JDL when we did have him.
