Couple threads on Brand X suggesting Ann McCoy should appoint a few Cougar Football legends to serve as "interim" coaches against Syracuse.

Might be a way to circle the wagons and appease some of the fans who've paid for airfare to and from San Diego, lodging, game tickets, etc.

Ann probably needs to decide quickly with the game 9 days away

Seems like a good idea.

In no circumstance should Dickert coach that game (even if he wanted to).

Price should never been allowed to coach the Rose Bowl after taking the Alabama job.

I concur. F-it. All the previous non-starting players get their chances. Eckhaus gets his chance.

What a way to end 2024. A month-ish ago WSU was 8-1, ranked, and at least in the conversation for a CFP berth. Now? We are in shit shape. Wonder how many of Anne McCoy's Sr. administrators are taking pay cuts or being dismissed?

After the pain wears off, be ready for a dozen "I told you so" threads by the All-seeing and always Mighty Loyal One regarding the reverse merger. And regarding our wholly incompetent President, AD and Pac Commissioner.

I kind of like this idea. A few of the players have been around the team this season, so bring them in. Jack Thompson as HC, Drew and Leaf (if he can get out of the booth) as OC and QB coach. We had DeWayne Patterson back for the Texas Tech game, Chad Eaton is in Seattle, and Ron Childs is still in Tri-Cities. Bring them as defensive coaches. Hell, fly Doba out if he's willing. Make it the WSU HOF sideline reunion. Maybe it can even be a move to let Gesser start getting back in the good graces of the program.

And then, just go play playground ball for the bowl game. We won't have much of a system, and no coaches that know the calls and formations. Wing it, just go play for fun. It'll probably look just as good or better than what we saw for the last month of the season.

At this point, we're down our entire coaching staff, starting QB, RB, WR, and I don't even know what else. If we lose, who cares. But if we can go out there and play a game and look fun and interesting...maybe that's all we can hope for.

What gets lost in the heat of the moment is the opportunity for the "depth" to get real playing time...both at the bowl and in the upcoming season. This is an opportunity they would not have had if the defectors had not left. I suspect that more will stay than you might assume.
