Replying to myself here. How about you all stop with the insults and intelligently opine on the major issues facing America? I have listed and opined on many of them (above). Yet I meander through 3 threads of insults and BS and don't see a lot of intelligent discourse. Note that I am OK with a border crackdown, dispensing with this transgender rights shit and grudgingly sort of support the tariffs. And worry about the international scene. Would be happy to hear what you Trumpers think should and will happen. Absent of personal insults perhaps?
Tariffs, oh what do we do about tariffs? Some say they are great for America, some say it will ruin us and make everything way more expensive. I will say right up front I am not an expert on them, and will not argue either for or against them here. But I will just point out some things I have heard about them.
1. I have heard that Trump put some tariffs on China in his first term. Although the left is screaming about tariffs now, I think they left Trumps tariffs in place and actually added some more. Is that all true?
2. Saw a business guy state that Europe has a 100% tariff on US cars sold there, and we have like a 15% tariff on their cars. Is that true, if so why are we letting them get away with that?
3. I have seen a rather smart businessman, Kevin O'Leary (otherwise known as Mr Wonderfull from Shark Tank), say that the US needs to put 100% tariffs on China to punish them for their unfair business practices and theft of intellectual property. He wants to bring them to their knees. So, is that a wise thing to do or a horrible idea? What should Trump do?
But we won't be able to continue to consume as much disposable crap from AliExpress and Temu! And if I'm not consuming, I'm not going into more debt. Sounds like a BAD PLAN.

This is why I kinda like the China tariff idea. Opponents (D's) say it will cost the average American what - $2,600-4,000 a year? OK, because you buy what cheap shit that is made in China? This looked suspicious to me, and I saw a great bit of commentary on this that confirmed my suspicions: "Don't Compare the Final 2020 Popular Vote Totals with Non-Final 2024 Vote Totals"
From that article, a key point: "Given that so far the 54% of California votes that have been counted are split 5.6M for Harris to 3.9M for Trump, that suggests the remaining 46% will add roughly 4.8M to Harris's tally and roughly 3.3M to Trump's." And this applies to all the other states. The counts will continue to increase for both, but CA, OR, and WA will increase faster for Harris than Trump.

Tariffs are fine to counter a foreign government subsidizing goods like China does with electric cars but they shouldn’t be used to prop up a company with dwindling market share like Tesla. Be interesting to see if Trump gives Musk some undeserved favoritism.
For things like stealing IP they should ban their products outright and heavily sanction the companies and their executives. Maybe even criminal charges for execs at companies like Huawei who were just caught stealing IP from TSMC. Letting them get away with this crap has been going on for decades. It’s ludicrous.

Social Security doesn't have to be cut but the way that it gets paid should be revamped. There should be no cap on that tax. That would help a fair amount.
FWIW, I'm fine with them reducing the maximum benefits available, even if it would hurt me a little. I plan on having well over $2 million saved when I retire and social security is going to be my f#ck around money. Reduce my benefits by $300 per month and I wouldn't notice it.
