Cougs picked up QB Zevi Eckhaus from FCS Bryant College today. Originally from Culver City, Eckhaus was the conference offensive player of the year and a Walter Payton award finalist for top player in the FCS. Looks to be a really strong addition to the QB room with Mateer.

I like WSU not giving a big NIL deal for the Portal QB, until if Portal QB becomes starter, and does better then Cam.

I like having Competition in QB room, with both a good starting QB, whoever that ends up being, and good back up.

Also nice to see so far that Mateer isn't leaving just because WSU got a portal QB.

Only 1 year to play, so this is a move to bring in some experience, either to help Mateer or step in if he’s not ready.

Or to be the starter. I'm not suggesting that he should be the starter or annointed as a favorite to be starter, but it's not just theoretically possible, but about a 43% to 53% to 63% chance that he might beat out Mateer and be the starter via Spring camp, fall camp, etc.

Not saying he will, and Mateer can just as easily be the starter.

Neither should be considered THE STARTER for now, and COMPETITION is a good thing.

Regardless of which of them is starter and back up, WSU has 2 GOOD STARTER WORTHY QB's for both starter, back up.
