Its time to welcome Marquitter Wilson back

I'm the same way. I remember being so pissed about this at the time. Now? Whatever.

At this point? Why not recognize the guy? He was a great player and made the NFL. WSU benefits by utilizing that. There is no benefit to acting like the guy didn't exist.

It's not like we have a list 10 pages long NFL alumni wanting to come back and stand on the sideline.

Right now, there is no reason to recognize him that I can think of (no halftime celebration for anything he accomplished, no bowl team reunion, etc.). I suppose he could be brought back to raise the flag, but that's all I can think of.

Wilson is free to travel to Pullman. I'm sure the AD will give him a sideline pass. I promise not to call him Marquitter or Marquessa from the cheap seats.

For the record....I don't believe that WSU should individually recognize Marquess Wilson in any way, shape or form. Even though I've gotten over the way that he left WSU, he didn't do anything that warrants any special recognition. He didn't play on a bowl team....so he shouldn't be involved if we had a 2013 bowl team reunion, he wasn't successful in the NFL, so he gets no pass there, and he didn't establish school records or anything like that. In that respect, he's just another dude who played at WSU and shouldn't get any special recognition at this point.

Should he even be given a sideline guest pass that other former players get? Hell, I don't know if I'd even authorize that if I were Chun. However, if WSU decided to have a game where they honored all former WSU athletes and there were 250 people on the field and he was one of them.....I wouldn't care. If he wants to be considered a WSU alum, I'm fine with it. Hell, nobody in the world gives a crap about his little spat with Leach outside of us and if it gives us another NFL alum to tout, why not pad the stats?

Is he an alum? Not that it particularly matters in this case, just curious.

If Gabe Marks asked for two sideline passes, one for himself and one for an unnamed friend I'm sure Gabe would get two.

My attitude on this is that we don’t need to formally “recognize” him for anything, but he should be welcomed back to the football program the way other former players are.

Why is this so difficult?

It's not. Mark's in his piece isn't asking for wilson to be honored per se. He is asking him to be accepted as a Coug in what many think is a special club, just without financial dues.
