outside of Powell's pat/ fg, the entire special team unit looks deficient. KR, KO, PR, and especially punt. The only reason MSU didn't eventually get ahold of one of those punts is that we just didn't have the ball enough.

For such a contrarian, Leach's apparent indifference to special teams is probably one of the big negative surprises that wasn't foretold by the TT supporters.

In the blow out losses the weak special teams hasn't mattered. Or even this year. But they have mattered in previous years.

Leach should have hired better O Line and Special teams coaches. They really had precious little experience other than being able to hoist a few beers and engage in BN.It shows when they meet very well coached teams with physical players.

Mele is at least one of the best recruiters on the staff. He was point guy in getting Cooper to WSU and has been involved in many others the past couple of years. The ST hasn't killed us as much as past years, but not really helping us either, except for Powell.
