You know what I don't get, if there is nothing in the report why doesn't "what Matt wants Matt Goetz" want it sent to the public. I guess innocent people would rather have suspicions and rumors spread about them. I would have thought MG would be thrilled to have the report to be made public .

Gaetz resigned only from his current term. He was re-elected, so he can be back in in the House in January.

So, now that's he's withdrawn from consideration you have to scratch your head. Was announcing the nomination, then Gaetz withdrawing the plan from the beginning? Gives Gaetz a bargaining chip to use in the ethics investigation- Gaetz resigned and withdraws, so Rs can say "he's been punished enough for any transgression" and with a R majority it can be put to bed. Seems plausible to me.

The dude has made so many enemies on both sides I don't see why anyone thought he was worth the effort. I thought that the idea was to get Gaetz two years as AG, then he would run for Florida governor in 2026 when DeSantis terms out.
