Official Game thread. Cougs vs. Cats

We talk a lot about Morris, Ward, bubble screens, but how freaking good has Dickert's defense looked these past couple of years; particularly our secondary development (his specialty)?

So far, we've struck solid gold with the Dickert promotion.
They’ve been decent, but that deep sideline route is a consistent weakness

Not sure how long you've been a WSU fan, but outside of the 1997 team, I don't think I've ever seen a WSU team kick the crap out of 3 consecutive conference opponents.

Ward’s done a good job with the D as well.

2013 WSU 24-17

2014 UA 59-37

2015 WSU 45-42

2016 WSU 69-7

2017 UA 58-37

2018 WSU 69-28

2021 WSU 44-18

FYI - WSU is 5 and 2 over the last ten years against Arizona. Maybe not so surprised to see the outcome so far today.

Cougs up 31-6 to start the 4th
Just run the ball to waste some more clock. No need for risk at this point.

True enough, but it doesn’t change the weakness

This offense would be a lot better if we quit running these lateral passes that keep getting blown up. I am shocked that we haven't fumbled. We dodged a bullet on the last one.

D is playing lights out.

Its personal.

Really no more need for high risk, heavy contact plays. Who cares about the final score. Run the ball, drain the clock and punt.
If we’re going to drop into a prevent and concede 10 yards underneath on every play, we can’t afford to go 3 & out yet. It’s not over yet

Solid drive to use up clock
Almost down to 6 minutes and if needed, punt it deep.
Arizona defense has been tough the 2nd half.

That fumble brings something up that has been absent today - Ward's ridiculously long wind up. Maybe he's been working on it?
