The one thing that I will say about the refs is that they have been letting a lot of things go all game and then all of a sudden they are calling things really tight.

Held them under 40% from the field. They stayed in the game from 3.
Refs were not good. Smith even commented there were 2 he had never seen before. His T was a good call though. Can't come on the court during the play. He was pretty close to a CU player. I get that it looked like goaltending. We won, so all good.

Maybe the T was deserved. Hard to tell from the stands. There was a lot going on that led to that point. Verne Harris is one of the best refs around but the other two were new to me. The one that called the T was especially bad.
Problem is he then let his emotions get in the way. Call the T and let it go. He has an agenda for the next 5 minutes and the other pieces of shit joined him. It was ridiculous.
I couldn't believe it until I saw the replay and Smith was clearly on the court. That's automatic.
Smith also said 2 of the refs were new to him as well. They stopped the game to throw a fan out? Agree with Coug90 that after the T the calls were even worse. They called Lampkin for the "chicken wing" in the 1st half, stopped in the 2nd? Simpson clearly pushed off on Rice before hitting a 3.

Yeah that was a new one. Who knows. Only time I can imagine a ref doing that is if someone threw something or interfered with the game in some way. There was none of that I could see. They had completely lost their emotions by that point though, both the guy who called the T and the smaller ref. Maybe some kid yelled something racially and that’s what got them mad, who knows.

Maybe the ref thought he heard something different. Either way refs shouldn’t be booting fans unless they interfere with the game.

Those, these Ref's need to be CRUCIFIED, EXPOSED, IN PUBLIC, AND THEN FIRED.
That's abuse of power, authority by refs.
The only things Refs can kick a fan out for, or call a foul on a fan for, etc, is:
If the fan literally threatens with fist, knife, gun, words that say something like, I am going to KILL X player, person, ref, fan, etc.
If the fan hits a coach, player.
If a fan runs out on court.
Anything else, any other type of fan misbehavior, is up to fans, security, cops, etc, to either warn, detain, remove, arrest, escort a problem fan out.
A fan CANT OR SHOULDNT OR AGAINST RULES FOR REF TO REMOVE A FAN THAT SAYS BULLSHIT TOO LOUD OR ACCUSES REF OF RIGGING GAME, ETC.
Security, cops, etc, can have a fan leave for saying BULLSHIT too loud, or for accusing a ref of rigging game to loud, too obnoxiously.
A ref can report to those in charge at the game, that a fan is saying BULLSHIT too loud or accusing him the ref of rigging game, but that's all a ref can do rules wise, and if Ref does that, it's out of Ref's hands at that point, and only those in charge at the game, and not the ref's can have the offending fan leave. If those in charge at the game, choose not to have the offending fan removed, then the ref can't have the offending fan removed.
I have been a baseball umpire. The rules do not let baseball umpires throw out fans. Baseball umpires may only ban, throw out coaches, players, and report fans to those in charge, and let those in charge decide whether or not to ban, throw out fans. Those type of rules also apply to bball and football.
That Ref USURPED, ABUSED POWER.
That Ref should be pointed out publicly, and then fired.

Here’s the thing. If a ref is pointing to a specific fan in the stands to have thrown out, it means he’s paying attention to fans in the stands. You’re a ref. Fans are going to curse you out at every game. It’s part of the job at that level. Ignore it. Your job is to manage the court, not worry about what people are saying in the stands. Completely out of bounds. I agree with Mik, this should be disciplined by the league
Smith was way out on the court so the technical was an automatic and based on the replay the block was clean. The only real problem I had with the refs was they let both teams play a rough/physical game and then 3/4s of the way through the game they started calling a different game hard for players to adjust that far into the game.
This team is seriously playing good basketball and is super fun to watch. Keep this up and NCAA tournament is in our future. The last time I looked we were not in the tournament projected field but this weekend I’m betting went a long way towards changing that. On a side note Gonzaga was not projected as making the tournament. Personally I would love for WSU to be in and Gonzaga be out!
